defending Hovind...
Charley, the more you defend Hovind as a "... truly Great Man of God ..." the more your posts might tar other Christians with the dispicable dishonesty, arrogance and generaly looniness of this guy.
Think more carefullly before you post that sort of stuff.
It is clear that you have put yourself on the same side as Hovind but I don't suppose that is doing much damage to your standing here.

Re: defending Hovind...
Every time I read on this forum I read about "how looney" Kent Hovind is. But to date, within the last 10 years, I have not found one single point that shows just "what" makes Kent Hovind looney.
And by the way Charlie, just wanted to say kudos to your standings. Be aware that we are in the minority, but I feel it an honor.

Read anything he says about creationism or evolution. Even other creos think he's nutty. Or, in this particular thread, anything he says about taxes, and his liability therefore.

Just talking about tax avoidance schemes on a monitored jailhouse phone right before sentencing should qualify one as a looney at least, if not a clueless moron.

Are you saying you've examined what people point to as Hovind's most loony positions and you find them rational? If so, then I can believe that, and a discussion about whether these Hovind positions are actually loony or not is a topic for another thread.
But if you're instead saying you can't find the specific Hovind positions that people think are loony, well, then you're just not looking. Watch this debate between Hovind and Shermer. During the debate Hovind provides an excellent presentation of most of his most loony positions - almost everything he says is loony. He also clearly wins the debate, so enjoy!

    More Hovind News
There is some recent Hovind news: Attorneys for Hovinds seeks acquittal on bank structuring
    --Percy

Normally we close a thread after 300 posts, but it seems like this Hovind case is winding down, so rather than open another thread that might only have a few posts I'm reopening this one. If other moderators feel it important to instead open a new thread I'm okay with that. --Admin

    The Appeal
An appeal by Pensacola creationist Kent Hovind and his wife, Jo Hovind, seeking acquittal on tax-fraud charges was denied.
    From here
Jo Hovind was convicted of 44 counts of evading bank-reporting requirements. Her sentencing was delayed pending the appeal and should soon be set.
