this so called "ultimate" bible quiz circulated my lj friends, a few other boards, and even pharyngula. i thought i'd post it here, just to see what people get. i found it almost offensively easy, and even picked out a few errors in the questions. for instance, the correct answer to #40 isn't even on there. as you could probably guess, i easily got 100% on that one. but not this one, which someone created in response to how absurdly easy the first one. i'm almost ashamed to mention my dismal score. it's a good deal more difficult. The accepted answer for #40 is there. the "accepted answer" is wrong.
quote: Gen 7:24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.
it's at least 150 days.
quote: Gen 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. Gen 8:13 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first [month], the first [day] of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth:
and according to that, it's closer to a year.
Did you notice that the answer to the #8 question isn't really listed. yeah, technically, they walked. joseph's brothers were ALSO israelites, being sons of jacob/israel. like i said, not the best quiz... ...but that second one is a doozy!

Re: I'm gonna give arach and Brian a run for their money!
yeah, try that second though. i outright failed that one. of course, some of it was just plain unfair, like that latin question. what the hell. i might have had a fair chance at getting it in english...

oh, you mean, you cheated. it's a lot trickier when it's not open book.

you realize that's kind of the test, right? memory of verses and whatnot. it doesn't test your ability to wing it in latin, nor does it test your ability to read a passage and comprehend it. it tests your knowledge of the bible.

On the second received a 7% wow, ok, that makes me feel a little better. i did better than that, but not as highly as some of the other people. it was a lot of nt stuff, which i'm not nearly as versed in or familiar with.
knew only one and that came from here and one of your post. really? which one?

Re: Hootie
For language know-how it would still make more sense to put Hebrew and Greek in it before Latin. yeah, i thought that was a little odd. the vulgate is an important text, yes, but the greek and hebrew are primary sources. perhaps it's just another instance where they went for obscurity over popularity.
I enjoyed the wrong answers in the first one. Jonah's nickname should be Hootie. agreed!
