Please Elaborate
Prophyx writes: We are born with the ability to know what is right. Since, according to you, all people are born with the ability to know what is right, then you, as a subset of all people, should be able to tell us what is right and what is wrong. Please provide specific examples.

All Other Societies
Prophyx writes: They are not educated. They live in ignorance and sometimes expound it for their own benefit. Are you educated beyond the level of 'other societies?' Please feel free to tell us how educated you are and how you have managed to 'escape ignorance' relative to others.

Re: Please Elaborate
prophyx writes: This isn't what the thread is about, if one is educated and understands morality, then any hypothetical example could be worked out. We aren't dealing with examples of morality but with morality itself. If you can't define what you are discussing by providing examples, then you are talking about nothing.

Re: Please Elaborate
Define morality. If you can't, then there is no topic.

Re: Please Elaborate
prophyx writes: I attempt to understand morality through reason. I am not GOD. How can one understand morality when one can't define morality or provide examples of morality? Are you insinuating that only God can define morality or provide examples of morality? This hardly fits in with the idea that all people are born with an innate knowledge of morality. Your new buddy Socrates asked what is moral. Is your obstinate refusal to answer the question supposed to be a mark of genius? Is the moral person the person who remains mute? If you refuse to tell us what morality is, it makes it appear you do not know what you are talking about. Under the circumstances, how is anyone else supposed to divine your intentions?

Re: You still have not answered the question.
Its nice that you are taking a class in philosophy. In subsequent units will you be telling us that morality is God (Augustine), subjective (Spinoza), or the will to power (Nietzsche)?

Re: You still have not answered the question.
prophyx writes: That isn't philosophy. Define philosophy. Or better yet tell your instructor that you get to define who is a philosopher instead of him from now on.
You don't think, don't spread your disgusting disease around here please. Pot. Kettle. Black.
