BBC NEWS | Middle East | Jesus tomb found, says film-maker
quote:
Jesus had a son named Judah and was buried alongside Mary Magdalene
This line interested me:
quote:
statistical analysis and DNA show the tomb is that of Jesus.
It's not clear from the article, but do they have a sample of Jesus's DNA?

Yes, they took out all of the letters in the KJV that weren't ACGT and that is Jesus' DNA. They compared it to the DNA of the guy in the coffin and voila!
Actually that's rubbish. Jesus blood can be found in any Catholic church (and a few others besides). It looks a little....erm...grapey...but the DNA definitely matches the guy in the tomb. Well...they both have DNA anyway.

Maybe it's something stupid like Ron Wyatt's claim to have found Jesus' blood. I suspect it's not quite that silly, though. But it's the same guy who was behind the "Exodus Decoded" rubbish so expect lots of misrepresentations of the evidence.

From the CNN report of the event:
Stephen Phann, a biblical archeologist writes:
"How possible is it?" Pfann said. "On a scale of one through 10 -- 10 being completely possible -- it's probably a one, maybe a one and a half."
Can't this statement be made about any claim thats been made about the biblical jesus, including his (past) existence?

First of all, I'd like to make it clear that I have no position on this whatsoever. I have not seen the documentary and I don't know enough about all this archaeology stuff to make a call.
I simply have a rhetorical question. If we can't convince the typical fundamentalist that gravity exists and that it is responsible for planetary motion, how likely is it that we can convince him about this Jesus Tomb thing even if god the father appears in front of the whole world telling it that the site is the authentic Jesus' Tomb and the skeletal remains is that of Jesus and his family?

Under the circumstances I don't think that this crew could even manage to convince me.
But you're right. I don't think you could convince even most Christians with merely good evidence, and nothing would convince the fundamentalists.

Another endeavor to make money off of stupid movies made by stupid people.
Similar to JK Rowling and Dan Brown.... These people are so pathetic lol.

How will we convice people to examine themselves when all they want is the comfort and security of a "liberal" and "intelligent" point of view?
How will we get them to reverse the effects of destroying the importance of knowledge and philosophy? How can we get them to realize that they can't destroy truth?
Please, admit you know nothing, and stop shouting this garbage as if it is worthy of a glance.

...DNA show the tomb is that of Jesus.
Analyzing the Y chromosome should prove quite interesting.

And here I thought that it was unquestioning faith in the lord and total acceptance of jesus christ as one's savior that gave comfort and security. Boy, just when I was ready to convert you come along and ruin it for me!
