Picture of the month

Should be picture of the decade or something.It's weird, sometimes I see one of two pictures, or it's just blank.
That is if I go directly too

The next chance I get I'm going to get rid of the Picture of the Month. I keep hoping someone will sign up to keep it up to date, and every so often someone does, but no one has ever kept it up for more than two consecutive pictures.So I'm going to change the homepage so that there is no picture. It will instead make reference to the most active threads, and will include an Avatar of the Instant - each time you redisplay the home page it will select a different Avatar and display it, as well as a few bits of information about its owner. Avatars will be selected from those who have posted at least once within the last n days, haven't decided on n yet.

I did try taking a spin at potm myself. However, I spent several months trying to get permission to use one excellent picture of Archaeopterix and got tired of jumping through hoops to find out who I needed to speak to. I found out in the end - and that person (actually, those people) didn't respond to any emails.I imagine many of the others had a similar problem. A lot of pictures are free to use, but a lot of really good pictures require getting permission which is a frustrating business. Percy's idea looks good.

I don't know about other people, but I just go straight to all topics via book mark. I say leave the picture of month portion up and pick out the best picture you have ever seen in your life for it.

I tried that with my desktop, and my wife slapped me. j/kSooner or later it will bore you, and you'll want a change.
I would do it, but I wouldn't want to go through a pesty approval process. Percy's idea is good.

If that's what we're going to do, then it can't be called "Picture of the Month".I say either get rid of it, or try harder to get it updated.
