Yes, I think you are yanking our chains a bit or something with these questions. Maybe you are a fan of Popoff?
All I know is that if the voice of God were detectable byscanner and we could all use an earpiece to pick it up, well, this would be a very different world.

I am no fan of Popoff.
The questions were an attempt for me ,as an athiest, to find out what criteria you used to determine that your system was true and Popoff's was false.
If we could detect god on a scanner then it would be a natural event.
(we may be getting too serious for the coffehouse)
(sorry for the delay had browser poblems, also I had to think about the answer.)
Thanks

Re: How?
I don't. But it could also be the sound of the tooth fairy, it's just as reasonable as the sound of god. The simplest explaination is that it's just his wife giving him information about those poor people that are being decieved (also the one that collected the info).
I agree.
How deep are you willing to let the razor cut?

I'm not sure what you mean. But if you mean what I think you mean then:
The deeper I cut the more sure I am of what I think about the subject when I ultimately have evidence to support it.
I know that it hurts when the razor cuts, it's when I start throwing away any unnecessary claims about the world that I would like to have, it's when I have to face the fact that I'm wrong about some things. But in the end, as I have learned in life, it's pays off to do the right thing (rationally) despite personal conviction. I can look people in the eye, it's honesty.

Seems you understood perfectly.
Without evidence it's just opinion.
Your last sentence seems to be the basis of morality.
Thanks

"it"? What are you referring to?

Well... I'm just a simple person...

"it"
Without evidence it's just opinion.
"it"? What are you referring to?
By "it" I was refering to most any statement or assertion.
If I say the earth is flat, evidence shows me wrong.
If I say the continents move, evidence shows me right.
Without evidence both statements carry equal weight.
Thanks

I have heard this argument many, many times before. It might be a good question somewhere else, but there is truly no profundity here. The voice of 'God' was picked up by scanner, it was a natural event, and I don't have any system to compare.
Edited by anastasia, : No reason given.
