Then don't watch the commercials, seriously who doen't change the channel when commercials are on? Or mute it.
Since it is our elected government (FCC) that makes the rules concerning this, I feel we all have a say it what it should be
Why? Sometimes the government just can't let "the people" have their way because "the people" are dumb. You're free to limit what your children watch, what gives you the right to limit what my (hypothetical) children watch?

Why are my kids seeing r rated commercials during a g rated basketball game?
I still doubt that this is actually what happened.

So you are capable of supervising your children. What is stopping you from applying this same parenting technique to the Tv?

and the nature of it was a commercial for a movie.
That makes it sound like even more BS, the MPAA (the agency that gives out the movie ratings) has final approval over all forms of a film's advertising, they would never let that kind of content air in a TV spot at any time of day.

you do not have to watch TV long at all to see what I am talking about
I've been watching TV for almost 30 years now and I have never seen a person getting their head blown off in "full detail" in a commercial at any time of day.
BTW, ratings are voluntary.
Yes submitting your film to the MPAA is voluntary, but there are few theater chains that are going to show an unrated movie.

Yes and thankfully theres a way to deal with the consequences without infringing on the rights expressed in your constitution. I fail to see what this has to do with censoring TV.
