Re: finally
gameknot will e-mail you when you've been challenged. Heck, it'll even e-mail you everysingle time it's your move.
thing is, you have to change what it e-mails to you in your profile.
you can even change what the chess board looks like from your PoV (only four choices though).

Re: finally
I just checked and thats ticked in my profile. I think I've figured it out - for some reason I have become a "rule violator" and I think since that time they haven't been sending me any emails. I can't start games any more either. Quite what I did wrong I don't know, but it means I'm going to have to pay to be reinstated.
Pain in the arse!
Cheers anyway. ~I think I'll still be able to play if other people challenge me though, so anyone feel free.

Tudwell v. Zawi
Game underway here.
I don't know why Zawinul timed out of his game with Anglagard, but he seems fine now.

Re: finally
Tusko, I've never read the Gameknot rules in detail, but I doubt if you have to pay to be reinstated. It's probably because you timed out on a game or two in your first ten or fifteen games. Look on your public page, and it will say "timeouts" and give the percentage of your games that you've timed out on. I suspect that there may be a point, like 10%, that automatically limits your privileges on the site for a while. Try using the "Join Game" and "Start Game" facilities, then the more games you complete, the lower your "timeout" percentage will become (to state the obvious!) and I think that things may get back to normal.
There's a certain logic to it all, as they need to discourage people from starting lots of games, then not completing them. That's also presumably why the number of free games you can play increases every four wins.

Re: finally
I think you are right. The frustrating thing is that it won't let me start my own games - I'm going to have to be challenged by other people. Please - feel free if you want a game of chess against someone mediocre! I flourish best under less stringent time limits - say a week?
The frustrating thing is, as far as I can see it, that the reason I timed out on those couple of games was because they stopped sending me emails to say that my opponents had moved... and not recieving emails seems to be a byproduct of losing priveliges (I wasn't notified that omni just challenged me for instance - I only found out when I went to check my page on your advice). So I'm not sure if the timing out in those games WAS the route cause, or if it was something earlier.
All very boring. I just wanted to get it off my heaving chest!

Re: Kuresu vs. Anglagard
Is that what it tells you? I'm only playing one game!
Ah well - I hope I can get back into gameknot's good books...
(Thanks for trying to challenge me by the way)

Re: ?
Hi, NJ.
You, Jon, & Catholic Scientist have been eliminated.
Kuresu, Anglagard, bluegenes, and myself are in the winner's bracket.
Phat, Omnivorous, Riverrat, Tudwell, Zawinul, Tusko, and Nyeusigrube are still alive in the loser's bracket.
3rd round games are being played.

Re: Kuresu vs. Anglagard
Game over.
http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=7189249&r=337
Kuresu played quite well but accidentally lost a bishop early on, I was lucky as he has beaten me before.
Might as well savor this surprising victory since, considering the competition, it may be awhile before I see another one.

Admit defeat
Really sorry - I just remembered our game, who knows how long after it was timed out. I think that its going to be pointless me even trying to play games now they don't send me reminders when my opponent moves any more.
Its very frustrating, because I really like playing.
Sorry for wasting your time.

so . . .
how are everyone's game's going?
The only one's I'm aware of being finished for tourney play is the one between me and anglagard--which ended ten days ago (assuming today is the 27th--it might be the 28th)
Would it be possible for you all to finish somewhat soon? (and yes, this includes jon's incredibly slow moving. I pity the person who's playing him).

Re: so . . .
Zawinul's and my game is gong a bit slowly. If we could find a time when both of us are online at the same time, we could get much more accomplished in a much shorter amount of time. But every time I see the little green online icon illuminated, he's back offline after I move.
Oh, and I sent you a challenge because I got bored waiting for Zawinul to move. (No pressure, Z. Take your time.)

Re: so . . .
Mine's going awful, but I think it will be a while before complete collapse, so don't get in too much of a hurry.
