Re: age dating version 2
Damn fine job, Razzy. Pity we can`t copy it for reference into MS Word. Notepad destroys all the touches.

Hang `em high
Dammit, Percy, we seem to have more suspensions than Judge Roy Bean. Was it as bad as this in the past? I notice a lot of the old-timers are getting less tolerant, and who could blame them for having to explain misconceptions for the umteenth time. Or is it cyclic?

Re: OK
Well done, Angla. Far from being confined to Columnist`s Corner, I think it should be placed in the brand-new Handy-Dandy Rebuttal Corner, a.k.a. Not Another PRATT, Look Here for Openers Corner. :-p

Re: Dr A.
While Showcase might be the EvC equivalent of 'the rubber room' with inmates free to work through their fantasies, I question the influence of 'propaganda' on young and enguiring minds. When impressionable lurkers see the nonsense being dispersed without challenge because the inmates control the roster, it must tend to reinforce the validity of arguments presented there. While we hope the info from Showcase might be balanced by a wander through the more balanced sections of EvC, with our time limited by the demands of life outside the forum, it might be a case of 'that sounds reasonable', 'the evos really are evil',or 'engaged in a suppression conspiracy', or whatever passes for the latest in Delusionland. We only have a limited window to straighten out visitors with reliable information, so why leaven the lump with nonsense?

ESG
If Phat is going to set up his own little exclusive party (ESG)within EvC, controlling debate, shouldn`t it be moved to the zoo---oops---Showcase?

Re: ESG
A dangerous move, I suggest, Percy. In a world becoming more devoted to censorship and locking up options, where political correctness still gags debate, the very openness of EVC would join those who can`t or won`t defend their beliefs in open forums. Who said special privileges should be available to the nutters of this world? Denying confrontation lets weird beliefs flourish. There are many other sites where you can have your neurotics stroked. Why add EvC to them and diminish free thought?

Re: Respect goes both ways
Hi, PB, I think what you mean is civility goes both ways. Respect is earned. When bombastic posters trot out confrontational statements, one has the choice of patiently explaining why and where they are wrong, or replying in kind. Unfortunately, patience is in short supply on fast-moving topics. You slip the knife in, or get condemned to disappearing in the wash as arguments wander all over the place. A salute to admins who try to keep law and order.
