Re: so . . .
I'm online for the next hour or so now. I usually log straight out of Gameknot when I've made my moves and then wait for the emails to come.

Re: Admit defeat
Tusko, I think that something must've gone wrong with your Email connection with Gameknot. Try using another Email address (changing it on your Gameknot page) if you've got another. It may be that you've got some kind of spam filter that's knocking the GKnot emails out.

Re: so . . .
Hi, Kuresu. I've been working away from computers a lot during the last few weeks, and truthlover was travelling as well, so our game hasn't been moving too fast. However, we're on the 26th move, but there's no immediate ending in sight. I don't know about the other games. I hope they've all been started!

Re: Admit defeat
Hi bluegenes,
I hadn't thought of that actually, it was a good idea. However, I keep all my spam (gmail) and I just searched all my email and the last email i got was in the middle of the game with Kuresu that I forfeited because I forgot about it (I didn't get a reminder that he had moved). When I try to do anything, like start a new game (even now when I am playing no-one) I get this message:
RULES VIOLATION DETECTED:RULES VIOLATION DETECTED:
Please subscribe to a premium membership to continue enjoying chess on GameKnot.
You can refer to GameKnot's Rules and Policies for more information on what's unacceptable on this website.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1. What did I do wrong exactly?
Due to an ever increasing number of free accounts created on GameKnot each day, we are unable to review all of them manually. To ensure safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, GameKnot employs an automated system to screen all accounts for possible rule violations. Most common violations: creation of multiple accounts, rating manipulation, rude or insulting messages to other players, inappropriate language or image on the profile page, etc. For a detailed description of what is unacceptable on GameKnot please see our Rules and Policies.
2. If I subscribe to a premium membership, how do I know you are not just going to suspend it again without an explanation?
Even though the free accounts are screened automatically, we review each possible rule violation manually in case of premium subscribers. You will also receive a warning first in case of a single instance of a minor violation, if you are a premium subscriber.
3. So does this mean that paying you money makes it ok to break the rules?
No, you will still be required to follow our Terms of Use, which you agreed to when registering your account with us. Subscribing to a premium membership also ensures that all future incidents of possible rule violations are reviewed manually by our staff.
4. But I haven't done anything wrong, why do I still need to pay?
Paying for a premium membership is not a "rule violation fee" in any way -- you will receive the full benefits of a premium membership with all advanced features and the ability to play more games simultaneously, just like any other premium membership subscriber. What it also shows is that you are serious about playing chess and provides a guarantee that you will follow all the rules.
I'm sure this is connected with the fact that I don't get emails because I have the option to be emailed move notices "on". Totally stumped. I'm not sure how I violated their rules but I don't think its tied to my email address. It must have been something that I was doing that inadvertantly triggered them to almost completely shut down my account. I can still play, but only one game, and only if someone else challenges me. Anyway, it won't email me when the other person moves, so I basically can't play because I'm too absent-minded to check without reminders.
Having said all this though, I will try another email address just for the hell of it, if anyone wants to challenge me again, but I bet I'll forget to check, like I kept forgetting with Omni over our last few attempts to play games.

Re: so . . .
Bluegenes, I think the end is more in sight than you might think. I'm going on a trip the rest of the day, but I'll be moving regularly tomorrow, too. We're not going that slow. We started a tournament on some long time frames between moves. We can all be a little patient. It's not moving fast, but our tourney is moving along.

Where are we at?
I went to check on the other games going on, and omni/riverrat is still going on, as is my game with bluegenes. However, the tusko-Nyeusigrube game never happened.
Do you have a suggestion on what to do with those two, Kuresu? They're both in the losers' bracket, but I hate to just count them out. I didn't realize it never happened.

Re: Where are we at?
good question.
tusko's the one having gameknot problems, right? eh, knock out whoever was supposed to challenge the other person. (unless it was supposed to be tusko, because I'm not sure if he even can challenge the other person).

Re: Where are we at?
Ok, here's the current "how we're doing":
Winner's bracket:
Anglagard vs. the winner of bluegenes/truthlover
(assuming bluegenes pulls this out, as is likely, anglagard will be white)
Loser's bracket:
Phat (white) vs. the winner of omni/riverrat
Kuresu (white) vs. tudwell
tusko vs. loser of bluegenes/truthlover
(probably TL, and I'll be white vs. tusko)
That's it, just 4 games next round.
The round after that, the winner of the winner's bracket game will have to sit out 2 rounds as a loser's bracket winner is determined to play him.
You know, next tournament, we should do a 5-game round robin, like most tournaments are played. There's less sitting out then. It still happens, but nothing like the winner waiting for the loser's bracket to finish.

Tudwell wins
forked his rooks, I did. And then proceeded to give away my queen for free (well, i resigned before that could happen.
I'm out of the tourney.

Ongoing games
For those who are waiting, sorry things are slow, but the two games going on are really pretty good games if you want to check in on them.
There's no real possibility of me winning my game unless bluegenes really makes a bad move, which he's shown no signs of yet, but a draw can't possibly be out of the picture.
It may be a while until we're done (I refuse to go down easy), though we move every day. I have to make a trip to New England again Thursday, but I'm flying this time, so I won't be on the road two days like last time.

So it's been about a week and a half. How are everyone's games coming? I think I'm a round ahead of everyone; not only do I have to wait for this round to finish, I've already completed my game for next round too. Ah, well.
