But blocking the channels is not regulating the airwaves...
Is your position that of no regulaion at all?
Pretty much.
You're a conservative, you should like that. Let the free market regulate itself.
Actually, I don't disagree that advertizing should match the "rating" of the show it is shown during, and that there should be a clear rating system so people know what "octane" a show is about to be shown.
But that's about it.

Re: Offended beyond words
I have kids...I don't agree. What makes you think Schraf would agree if she had some?

Because she went as far as getting rid of TV.
You did not.
Ned has a kid, and he got rid of TV.
Mys sister has a kid, and they always greatly restricted her TV viewing. Now that she is in high school, she hardly watches any TV. Their family watches The Office but that's about it.
And you know what? She is an academically gifted, popular girl at school. Nobody cares that she doesn't watch hardly any TV. Nobody thinks she is wierd for not knowing all about American Idol. And if some people did she wouldn't care what they thought.

Re: quick question
OK, I won't.
Of course, you've described yourself as a conservative, so if something has changed for you recently I don't think I can be blamed for getting that wrong.
Are you going to respond to the substance of my post or just tell me that you are offended?
Edited by nator, : No reason given.

Re: quick question

That works for me but if people want the government to regulate it then I don't have a problem with that either.
It is an infringement of free speech for the government to regulate the airwaves, as far as I can tell.
We have no right to "TV content that doesn't offend me" in the US.
If you don't like it, turn it off.
We have no right to "TV content that I think is sppropriate for my children" in the US.
If you don't like it, turn it off.

I think we/they should give the poeple what they want.
The networks DO give the people what they want, as reflected in market share.
The people seem to want violence, sex, and American Idol.
