Sorry about the slowness, tudwell. I've been very busy throughout this month, and haven't really had any time for the Internet at all. Indeed, I got within a few hours of timing out on a couple of (non-EvC) Gameknot games, something I've never done in the year or so I've been playing there.
The irony of this is that the tournament game I'm playing with truthlover is an excellent one, and I'm sure that if we had coincided over a period when both were visiting the GKnot regularly, for example, over a 48 hour period, it would have been quickly finished. It shouldn't be too long. It's in the state at the moment where if either of us puts a foot wrong, the other's got him in checkmate. I love knife-edge games like that, and I hope truthlover's enjoying it as much as I am on the rare occasions I find the time to do so! I think it's Anglagard I really should be apologizing to, as he's due to play the winner. He'll have experienced the same slowness on my part in a practise game we're playing which has gone on for weeks (also a good one) so he won't be surprised.

Funny I should write that about 14 hours ago, because we did coincide on Gameknot today, exchanged quite a few moves, finished the game, and the best player lost, so I'm in the final of the winners' bracket against anglagard, if I've understood correctly. Very lucky in a sense, because with a first round opponent timing out and a second round bye, this is the only tournament game I've actually had to complete! Thanks to truthlover for a very good game which I would have enjoyed whatever the outcome, and also for the job he's been doing organizing all this. Edited by bluegenes, : Addition

I just sent the challenge for this game to bluegenes (eratic) at http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=7420496&r=529
It is interesting that we have been playing since not long after this tournament began.

It was a good game, bluegenes. Thanks for the game.
I got back from a trip Thursday. The trip was not too busy, and I had occasion to check the internet and move some. But when I got back, ouch! What a last few days it's been. So, I'm just entering the results of my game. It looks like Omni & Riverrat may be at it for a while. There's only two games that can happen right now. I'll challenge tusko in the loser's bracket and play white. Anglagard should challenge bluegenes (eratic on gameknot) and play white. Phat has to wait for the winner of omni-rat. Tudwell is indeed a round ahead and has to wait for the winner of my game. The winner of the anglagard vs. bluegenes game will be punished for his triumphs by having to wait for the loser's bracket to eliminate all the contenders but one.

I thought I was out. I'll play anyone, however. At this point, the ones who are left can all give me quite a good thrashing!

I show tusko beat you, you got a win with Jon (timeout?), and then a bye in the 3rd round. Only one loss, you go on.
Omni and rat are both pretty good, so you will indeed have your hands full.

Psst, Rat...you don't HAVE to wait three days to make your move: it's an option.

I am delaying the inevitable Actually, things have been rough for me lately. I haven't had the time to really focus on the game, and my head hasn't been to clear.I know 4 people dying from terminal cancer, and a bunch of other things going on. Besides, I didn't wait three days every time Take time to smelll the roses, what's your rush?

I'm sorry to hear about the sorrows surrounding you, Rat. I hope you understand my post was only good-natured ribbing. Take all the time you need.

No problem, I did not take it the wrong way, I just felt as though you deserved an explanation as to why I was taking so long. Sometimes I see you've made a move, then I go check the board, and my mind lately has been a jumble of crap, so I wait for a clear moment to make a move. I enjoy our games throughly

That's okay, Rat--you win on time. Good luck in the next round.
I've been on the road a lot over the past month--we did 3200 miles in two weeks--and I finally couldn't get to the PC in time. Real things always push back. -William James Save lives! Click here!Join the World Community Grid with Team EvC! ---------------------------------------

Despite my best efforts to the contrary, Bluegenes (eratic on gameknot) won the game.
So congratulations to Bluegenes for winning the final and once again showing he is a formidable opponent in the game of chess.

Cheers, anglagard, and thanks for a good game. But it wasn't the final. According to truthlover in a post above, the winner of our game has to play the winner of the losers' bracket when that's been decided. Does anyone know how those games are going?
