Author | Topic: Frank Peretti's "monster" | |||||||||||||||||||||||

A few weeks ago I rented Frank Peretti's book "Monster" frommy Church Library. It really keeps you on the edge of your seat. The writing was good and without a lot of fancy wordplay, but a few times it could be considered a little preachy (ie against evolution). The basics of the story is that a lady (i've forgotten the name of the character. Like i've said, it's been a while since i've read it) is kidnapped in the woods by the legendary Bigfoot. But despite sasquatch and other critters (to quote Steve Colbert, BEARS!!!!!), something else is hunting them, not human or sasquatch, wolf or bear. Something huge, ugly, and kinda nasty. It's coming, and it's not a natural beast, but something very sinister...
I'll leave the guys and gals to read the book and learn more. If it is wanted i'll put a spoiler section on here that will go into detail describing the "monster", and other interesting "critters" in the book. Edited by LudoRephaim, : No reason given. A werewolf (aka lycan)?
We are BOG. Resistance is voltage over current. Disclaimer: Occasionally, owing to the deficiency of the English language, I have used he/him/his meaning he or she/him or her/his or her in order to avoid awkwardness of style. He, him, and his are not intended as exclusively masculine pronouns. They may refer to either sex or to both sexes!

a werewolf(aka lycan)? ...More like a giant, overmuscled humanzee. The creature was a mixture of chimp and human, although it's genetics and body scructure were altered with a scientist ie a virus (dont ask me how; it was just some way of trying to roll the dice for some beneficial mutations, an absolute proof for evolution, as best as I recall.). it's extra outer foot digits where cut off, so that it would stay a ground critter. It was genetically programed to "naturally select" (ie kill) any ape species it came across. Humans and Bigfoots where then targeted by it. It had a roar similar to a woman's scream,a wicked set of fangs, and was around 8 feet in height. did you want to know about the other "critters"?? Edited by LudoRephaim, : No reason given. Since I have no intention of reading the book, keep the spoilers coming. This is good stuff!

Okay.
the other "monsters" that where made where a chimp-like critter whose whole body was nothing but a unmoveable blob of flesh, with only the head being able to move (and not very well), a Chimpanzee that had severe gigantism (about 8 feet tall or so, maybe more) and was in severe pain , another gigantic Chimp critter, totally white and very surly (both giants, like many human giants, quite thin, unhealthy) and a younger, smaller version of the big "monster". The bigfoots where impressive, with many color ranges in hair (orange, gray, black) and a big, impressive male pod leader (8 feet in height or so, solid black, very formidable looking). One of the smaller females got tackled by a Blackbear (running from the other sasquatches), in which the female slew it using her bare hands (a pun, i think...) A huge Bear (Black bear) was shot in the book. A movie should come out sooner. "The Nephilim where in the Earth in those days..." Genesis 6:4

I don't know. The more you describe the book, the gayer it sounds to me.

What do you mean by grayer? You thinking about reading the book?

Not gray. I said gay. The book sounds gay.
It has big foot. The human and big foot are chased by genetically engineered humans that seek out and kill all primates it encounters. Another critter is an ape that has a head attached to a blob of flesh. And so on and so forth. This sounds like a low budget movie I saw a few months ago. It was called "Hideous". Basically, it sounds like a fantastic freak show... and a really gay theme. We are BOG. Resistance is voltage over current. Maybe I should also mention that the "monster" fought another male Sasquatch near the book's beginning; the sasquatch and it's offspring whre killed and nibbled on...

BTW: only the giant "Monster" escapes to carry out this mayhem; the other "Monsters" never got out of the cages they where in; the big monster chewed his way out!

You sure your author there didn't plagaerize the idea from the movie "Hideous"?

dont really know. Possibly, but I cant say for sure.
I'll see if i can look up the movie your talking about tommorrow. BTW: I did notice some similarity to the movie "Prophecy" about a mutant grizzly, but it's probably just the certain things such movies/books have in common. Never seen that "Prophecy", but i know alot about it. Edited by LudoRephaim, : No reason given. "The Nephilim where in the Earth in those days..." Genesis 6:4
