I thought it is a very common knowledge that half the southern states still have some form of anti-multiracial marriage laws or other even though they don't really get enforced because of federal overrule.
All fourteen? seventeen? state "miscegenation" laws were voided by a Supreme Court decision in 1967. It would be interesting to see how many states never repealed theirs - my son and his wife may be felons!

Decent ESPN write up
Here is an in-depth ESPN.com story someone wrote a few months back about the story.

Re: Decent ESPN write up
Great article.
The more I read about this the more obvious it becomes that this is racism, pure and simple. From the article:
quote:
The position of Barker and the district attorney, McDade, who refused to comment, is that Wilson is guilty under the law and there is no room for mercy, though the facts seem to say they simply chose not to give it to Wilson. At the same time this trial was under way, a local high school teacher, a white female, was found guilty of having a sexual relationship with a student -- a true case of child molestation. The teacher received 90 days. Wilson received 3,650 days.
Come the fuck on!

I mean, the DA is all but saying that this was rape, even though there was no complaining witness and they couldn't get the guy on rape charges. (Didn't even try.)
Crash, I'm curious why you say they didn't even try. The sources I've read said the guy was acquitted on rape charges.
Here's a very interesting article, discussing the consensual "crime" as well as the race angle. From what I read here, I think it's unlikely that the girl was white, because I strongly suspect that this writer would have pointed that out in her discussion of the racism angle.

You're right, I hadn't read that before. I was either mis-informed or misremembered.

Utterly preposterous. If they were to nab every guy who did the same they'd soon have lots of very busy prisons.....
I think I would have to serve ten's of thousands of life sentences.
The song, "living in a America" comes to my mind right now.
Here is where the bible verse, he who is without sin, can cast the first stone comes to mind. Someone should give the judges lie detector tests, and see if they ever committed the same crimes.

That gives me an idea. They color all food based on how bad they are for you. The worse it is for you, the more disgusting the color should be.

Chartreuse bread? What about a bar chart with the % of the different non-organic elements?
High Fructose Corn Syrup for instance (try buying bread without it).
Sounds like a liberal idea to me

Making A Name For Themselves
I think that some prosecutor wants to simply make a name for themself by tackling the case and stubbornly standing on an old law.
Perhaps they had a similar distasteful experience early in their lives.
Who knows?
My prayers are with the young man, however. The young woman was not emotionally scarred...trust me.

Easy, just buy bread that looks like this:
This picture is from the Red Hen Bakery, and I eat their bread nearly every day.
Gimme a region of the country, I'll find a good baker for you.

I've seen rocks on the shore of Lake Superior that look more appetizing than those bricks.

That bread looks awesome. At least to people who know that good bread usually doesn't say "Wonder" on the side. (Snap!)

The point is not that you can't go out of your way to find bread that does not have HFCS in it but that the average market breads are almost universal in it usage.
Try finding the proportion of without to with in your supermarket. This is not a natural product and it affects our metabolism differently than raw sugar, and it could be a cause of some eating problems (you don't feel as full so you eat more ... what's the big problem with americans again?)
Enjoy.
