Gotta improve that muscle tone for the bike ride, Raz. Whenever I`m sedentary (far too often), I like to do a workout with isometrics, either against an immobile object or another limb. So far, it has kept me nearly as trim as my teenage years. Well, in my dreams.

Those of you who know me know my passion for mocha lattes ... something I am not allowed here (not sterile enough)
Today I got some (Starbucks) canned mochas. Ahhhhhhhh. Life is good. Today I got some (Starbucks) canned mochas. Is this something we should be reporting to the nurses? Or have you already paid them off?

because it is bottled\canned it is okay. I just can't have someone go across the road and bring back a real one (and no they do not taste the same, but it's still waaaaay better than institutional coffee).

Starbucks and coffee should not be mentioned on the same page, much less a single line.

Oh, I don't know. If you can find a Starbucks where they still make coffee the way they did when the company first started out (before they went "corporate" and decided profit was more important than quality), then their coffee is still great. Here, Nescafe (which has one of their big processing plants in Cayambe) is the "evil empire".
"Nescafe = no es cafe". Anyway RAZD, I am absolutely delighted to hear you're finally getting some joy in life - even if it is only canned lattes. Keep fighting, amigo!

Razd, I strongly suggest that you at least have an interview with Dr Whitaker head of the Wellness Institute, largest alternative healthcare facility in the nation. No matter what route you are taking, this man can give you some very valuable advice and ways to make your ordeal better and to enhance your likelihood of survival. He was a mainline MD, I believe a heart surgeon for years before he got this new enlightment. He now uses the best of all aspects of healthcare, including some conventional practice.
This man knows both sides of the healthcare debate because he's been in both extensively throughout his career. It appears you are getting just one side of the process, that of the big money healthcare establishment. My prayers are for you, my friend. May God be with you and make his reality and existence known to you. (ABE: Whitaker's Wellness Institute is somewhere in Southern Ca. I believe it's LA. ) Edited by Buzsaw, : No reason given. Thanks Buz
Wellness Center, Healthy Living, Natural Healing I don't see any programs specifially directed to lymphoma treatments. As I see it there are these basic element to overall health:
I think that we are still learning more and more in each of these different areas, but I feel that the best advances come through application of the scientific process: hypothesis, testing, validation and replication. I am also concerned that many "alternative" techniques to not follow this process, rather taking the approach: concept, anecdotal evidence, assumption of validity. Personally I think one of the areas that is more open to significant increase in valid knowledge is the diet and nutritional health. But I'm not about to jump on a band wagon without some evidence of validity. Enjoy. RAZD,
First, let me say that I have you in my thoughts. And I wish I could jump on the grid to help with the research, but I'm not sure my machine can be of help. I have a MacBook Pro and it's closed [and therefore off] most of the time. Does that matter? Oh. And fyi ... I did a bit of googling and tracked down Whitaker Wellness on the quackwatch.org list. Just so you know.

Far as I know worldgrid works on macs as well as pc's. I run it on my home computer and my laptop. You may want to look at the boinc agent, as it allows you to set a max cpu usage level to help from overheating. See HIV Cancer Diabetes MDA and more - Solve on your computer. Last I read they had finished the Cancer study, but the others are still underway. The proteom folding one is a good one IMHO, and the diabetes and MS have practical applications as well. It's all good: what little you add is just that much more in the overall scheme. Be sure to join the team.

RAZD, my Father had Lymphoma and fought a valiant battle before going quietly one morning in May.
Looking back, I wondered if there was anything different that we could have done to have changed Dads destiny. Nutrition was one item that could have been improved (from my standpoint...I don't know how Dad would have felt) but he didn't eat very much due to the chemo and in retrospect, I believe that he would have been able to tolerate a few high quality nutritional drinks. One thing I will mention that seems rather idealistic and not grounded in reality but which, to me, is and was quite a reality: After he died, I sensed his absence in a profound way. There was no evidence that anything remained of him except memories. One summer day, years later, I was riding in a 7 day bicycle tour which went through some of the most beautiful areas of our Colorado Rocky Mountains. I was climbing a rather tough stretch of road near Leadville, and passed a sign that said 10,000 feet. Suddenly I sensed him right there with me, (he never rode bikes, either) and I began to smile and called out "Daddy"? "Daddy?" I had not thought of him every day or anything...but when I became reacquainted with his presence, I was overjoyed. It may have been entirely my own soul reuniting with old memories, but I certainly thought it to be more. My question to you, RAZD, does not mean to sound negative or fatalistic. As feisty as you are, you probably will survive this cancer and will go on to do some wonderful things in the days that you have left on earth. IF you did die, however, would you be scared of death or would you embrace it? Also, do you think that there is a chance that your soul would be anything more than a fond memory? (If this is too personal, you need not answer, but I am genuinely curious) Respectfully, Phat BTW this is a question for all of us to contemplate eventually....so I am thinking of my answer as well.

... would you be scared of death or would you embrace it? I would accept it.
Also, do you think that there is a chance that your soul would be anything more than a fond memory? That and reincarnation (which I am philosophically more inclined to believe) are things I am agnostic on. I'll wait to see what the evidence shows . One thing I expect at my funeral is fireworks. Celebration. Enjoy. RAZD writes: I love your outlook! You will probably outlive me! One thing I expect at my funeral is fireworks. Celebration. And at my funeral, we can settle for a giant Bar-B-Que...perhaps I definitely agree with you that life is a celebration! Too many people take it for granted until they are faced with life threatening illnesses. One question: Do you know where to buy any cheap fireworks? (Not for your funeral, though....you are too feisty! Edited by Phat, : add
