Not really a topic, but I just wanted to say hello to Rrhain. I haven't seen him here in a long time. Good to have you back, Rrhain!

Re: Blink
Rrhain emulated a quantum fluctuation, it seems. Out of the blue, he blinked into existence, and very soon afterwards was gone again. But not before the cosmos (read: "EVC-forum") noticed. Let's prepare a bubble chamber and try to catch his trail next time he comes along.

C'mon rat, don't be silly
Dude, I was feeling bad for cheering at Taz in that other thread without any qualification that he was being a little too harsh on you. But here you've got everything backward. Show me a post where you believe Rrhain made an ad hominem argument.

Re: C'mon rat, don't be silly
Thanks for feeling bad
I don't know the exact percentage, but around 90% of rrhains replies to me were full of emotion, and failed what I thought to be logic.
If you want to teach me something, just do it without insulting me, or attacking my belief system. That's just as bad as sending people to hell.
rrhain was a smart person, albeit an emotional one. So for a person that supposedly let logic rule his life, and was cheered for in these forums, I found his emotions dictate who and what he presented himself to be.
Probably the worst part about it was his peanut gallery.
I can say I don't like him, but I don't hate him, and I do respect him, even if he doesn't respect me. I'd pull him from a burning car if it came down to it.

And I feel quite sure he'd do the same for you, rat. I agree that he had an irritating air of superiority. But he seemed to direct it at anyone who took an opposing view in any way, so I wouldn't take it personally.
I really would be interested in seeing an example of an actual post by Rrhain that you perceived as promoting an ad hominem line of argument.

To rescue or not to rescue

Teaching you the stuff that this forum is about is impossible without attacking your belief system. And what's this about "just as bad as sending people to hell"? That seems like a very childish thing to say.
rrhain was a smart person, albeit an emotional one.
You talk about him as if he's dead. He's not.
I found his emotions dictate who and what he presented himself to be.
So he is not at all unlike you then?
I'd pull him from a burning car if it came down to it.
It sounds as if Rrhain just barely meets the criteria to be eligible for being pulled from a burning car. Surely you're not saying that there are people here whom you would not pull from a burning car, are you? Even to contemplate the very idea of deciding whether a person does or does not merit a favourable decision in a burning car situation seems very un-Christian to me.
But then again, there's Fred Phelps of course, who's God hates fags (or so he says), so it's Christian is as Christian does, I guess.

"Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science." - Charles Darwin.
Did you know that most of the time your computer is doing nothing? What if you could make it do something really useful? Like helping scientists understand diseases? Your computer could even be instrumental in finding a cure for HIV/AIDS. Wouldn't that be something? If you agree, then join World Community Grid now and download a simple, free tool that lets you and your computer do your share in helping humanity. After all, you are part of it, so why not take part in it?

To point out hypocrisy, not attacking him.
So he is not at all unlike you then?
I admit it, he doesn't
Oh, and I would pull anyone from a burning car, it's my nature.

(forgive me for the lack of quoting. i'm in milan and this keyboard is stupid and has a third typing option with no third key. in other words, i can't figure out how to get the bracket. also, forgive this long explanation for ruining the humor in my curt response to follow.)
