Uh, no. Nor is that what I saw happening. All I saw was a bunch of whining crybabies that made their point but then wouldn't let it drop and just kept on bitching. The suspensions where for their continued juvenile behavior, the same juvenile behavior you are exhibiting now.

Every day that you and Moose continue to exercise moderator power is a day that no one can be confident in the moderator proceedings here. Since there are some members here that do have confidence in the Admins, I don't think you can honestly say "no one can be confident in the moderator proceedings here." The Admins are doing a great job.

Why? His posts have never contained anything except nonsense and he has consistently refused to support his assertions? I think it's good to have folk like Buz and IamJoseph here posting just so folk can see how bankrupt their ideas are, but I do think some explanation of why you decided to shorten his suspension is in order.

The reason I suspended him in the first place was for mouthing off to AdminNosy. After discussion in PAF, Admin and I both agreed that it might be best to shorten a tad. We do need creationists on the board as we all know. As Admin says, some folks can be wrong on some things but when conclusively shown so, the main problem is if they continue promoting a fully substantiated (I say fully substantiated/falsified) -- make that empirically falsified argument. Okay. So the reason is affirmative action because we know that Biblical Creationists really are unable to support their positions or follow the rules. That's fine. I happen to agree that is needed.

Yes, sure, absolutely, that's precisely what I was saying, that lengthy bullshit is preferred over succinctness. Often Percy, that seems to be the norm lately. And as to the 300 message limit, that is really an artificial issue. The effort required to close one thread and open a continuation thread is minimal, and part of bringing people to EvC is that they communicate with each other. That may include exchanges between two members. In this case, I found the exchanges in question to be pretty much on topic. They were discussions trying to outline some of the issues regarding a person who was articulate and a Biblical Creationist, as well as the dynamics of some of the people responding to that individual.

The post gives a distinct impression that creationists are above the rules, and that the rules will be deployed to censor anyone who dares to criticise a creationist. Which is as it should be. Remember that the Biblical Literalist or Biblical Creationist positions are indefensible and that the people have been taught to see any criticism of the position as an attack on the person. If we hope to hold discussions with them we need to give them far more leeway, allow them to make their unsupported assertions realizing all the time that their position really is unsupportable. They have no other options. That does not mean we need to allow the same leeway to those who have the advantage of having been taught how to question, learn and think critically, as well as the fact that those on the Evolution side actually have evidence and support for their position. That advantage is even greater in the Faith areas where the Biblical Literalist must constantly invent imaginary fantasies to get around the fact that if taken literally, the Bible is contradictory. The Admin staff here at EvC needs to continue to shelter and protect those who cannot support their positions using reason, logic and reality. Discussion in this thread is restricted to original complainants and moderators. This thread is not for discussing member behavior, but to discuss moderator procedures. Anyone disrupting this process will lose access to this forum until the situation is resolved. Posts not addressing moderation procedures will be rendered invisible. Jar and PaulK, we all think our position is the one supported and factual. Yes AdminBuzsaw, I agree that Biblical Creationists and Biblical Literalists really do think they can support their positions. That is why I believe that the Administrators here need to allow them greater leeway and not enforce the rules that would be the norm for the other side.
