Count me in.
I played another member here for about 5 games on another gaming server, it was good fun.
One question, are the games going to be one move at a time? or are we sitting down with a clock. I don't play well under the clock.
I played the guys on 42nd street(NYC), and under the clock they always beat me, then one guy offered to play without the clock, for a large sum of money, and I won.

It was a long time ago (maybe 24 years) and I am not sure what the time was, maybe 30 secs per move?
They like to keep things moving there, as there are people lining up to play them. I wonder if they still do that.
{ABE} BTW, that was the only time I ever played with a clock.
Anyway, I am way out of practice, and need all the help I can get. No doubt I will be making some simple mistakes getting back into it.
Edited by riVeRraT, : No reason given.

Re: riVeRraT has won, black resigned.
I am not sure who I play next.
Yes, I was checking out the analyze feature, it is good to use, and refresh your memory between moves, since some moves can be days apart.
I thought I blew it when I gave up my rook, just didn't see that one.
You made me sweat near the end.
"gg" - means good game!

Re: darn this is fun!
At any rate, after our tournament is done we might discuss chess strategy. I need it!
What helped me greatly years ago, was just reading books on it.
There are books on every piece, and how to move them. There's books on openings, middle game, and end games.
Each piece is extremely powerful, but only if you understand it's capabilities, and how to capitalize on them.
So wheres the second round?????
Here are the games in one post:
http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=6856547&chlg=y Jon + Kuresu
http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=6861404&r=704 Zawinul (white) vs. Omnivorous (black)
http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=6864163&r=46 Phat and tusko
http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=6864950&r=927 Riverrat versus Nem Juggs
http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=6861274&r=984 anglagard vs catsci
http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=6872705&r=358 Truthlover + Tudwell
http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=6885121&r=450 Nyeusigrube v. eratic
So far we got
+ Jon
+ Kuresu
|
+ Phat
+ Tusko
|
+ Zawinul
+ Omnivorous
|
+ Anglagard----------------Anglagard
+ Catholic Scientist
|
+ RiverRat------------------Riverrat

blitz chess
I was just playing blitz chess on gameknot, and I just got my ass handed to me 4 times.
Seems like your playing a computer, because there is no wait, but I could be wrong.
I hate time limits.

Re: blitz chess
Blitz chess is a java applet too, and you have 10 minutes to complete the game, per player.
I feel redeemed though, I won at least 4 out of 10 games.
And it's not a computer, it's real players.
Am I supposed to challenge truthlover?

riVeRrat/antslake vs. truthlover/shammahbn is underway:
http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=7026283&r=536
I lost due to a super blunder in round 27, or somewhere ther abouts.
Guess riVeRraT ain't cheatin...
Very good game, and I enjoyed it thourghly, one of the best games I ever had.
Been playing Omnivoruos on the side for fun too, excellent games with him also.
Also, anyone interested in getting whipped by a computer, try The Computer Chess World Champion - Shredder Chess
I beat it on easy, but get my ass whipped on hard.

Re: About those three days...
Psst, Rat...you don't HAVE to wait three days to make your move: it's an option.
I am delaying the inevitable
Actually, things have been rough for me lately. I haven't had the time to really focus on the game, and my head hasn't been to clear.
I know 4 people dying from terminal cancer, and a bunch of other things going on.
Besides, I didn't wait three days every time
Take time to smelll the roses, what's your rush?

Re: About those three days...
I'm sorry to hear about the sorrows surrounding you, Rat. I hope you understand my post was only good-natured ribbing. Take all the time you need.
No problem, I did not take it the wrong way, I just felt as though you deserved an explanation as to why I was taking so long.
Sometimes I see you've made a move, then I go check the board, and my mind lately has been a jumble of crap, so I wait for a clear moment to make a move.
I enjoy our games throughly

Re: About those three days...
I've been on the road a lot over the past month--we did 3200 miles in two weeks--and I finally couldn't get to the PC in time.
That's fine with me, can't we just set the game up where we left off, and continue?

Re: Omni or Rat?
I guess it's me.
I kind of feel bad because omni timed out, and we were having a very good game. Doesn't seem fair.
Not sure who has to challenge, me or you?
