Re: Keith Olberman on the Miss Teen USA pageant
Can't blame them, it's a tricky country to find.

Re: Keith Olberman on the Miss Teen USA pageant
I presume the question is a setup for the contestant to make an eloquent speech. Which may be pretty hard to do when the answer is "The education system is bad and some people are plain stupid".

LOL good call. Ted Haggard and their ilk truly are self-oppressed.

Re: Latest Chick Tract
I had to check that the was not a parody or a spoof. But no, it is authentic. Are the people who create these tracts adults? It is like Chuck Missler's Peanut Butter video you just can't believe that these folks are being genuine and authentic.

Re: Latest Chick Tract
Here is an in-the-closet case that we so often see in the christian community.

Disclaimer:
Occasionally, owing to the deficiency of the English language, I have used he/him/his meaning he or she/him or her/his or her in order to avoid awkwardness of style.
He, him, and his are not intended as exclusively masculine pronouns. They may refer to either sex or to both sexes!

Re: I L-O-V-E the peanut butter one!
That is one of my favorites. I have to hand it to the ingenuity of creationists to finally refute, once and for all, the Live Evolved From A Jar Of Peanut Butter Theory.

I could tell you what I've read about evolution, the big-bang, super-universes, quantum foam, and all that stuff. Eventually you'd ask a question I can't answer, then I'd have to go look it up. Even If I had the time for that shit, in the end you'd ask a question science hasn't answered yet. So let's save time and skip ahead to "I don't know." -- jhuger

Re: I L-O-V-E the peanut butter one!
I think the peanut butter one beats out the banana video because of the fake drama - watch him apprehensively open the peanut butter jar like he was expecting monkeys jumping out ala Jumangi style.
Chuck Missler lives in my neck of the woods. I listen to him on occasion on the local Christian radio. He constantly tries to sound technical and in-depth while teaching from bronze-age scripture. He refers to the Bible as integrated supernatural out-of-time messaging system. People lap it up.
These guys probably have not considered that their videos will be around for years, maybe generations. I would if they have ever considered how their grandchildren will view these videos as they make a complete ass out themselves.

It is hard to overestimate the ignorance and gullibility of many Biblical Christians
It is hard to overestimate the ignorance and gullibility of many Biblical Christians. The unfortunate fact is that many Biblical Christians do not question such totally absurd nonsense as the banana or peanut butter or rock theobabble or the Jack Chick nonsense. It is this ignorance and gullibility that allows clowns like Gene Scott or D. James Kennedy or Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson to continue to pull in the shekels.
And THAT is their Gospel, "send money fools" and there are many, too many, Christians that heed that gospel.

The Creationist Method
I would have posted this in my other thread, but this is more appropriate:

What do you mean "You can't prove a negative"? Have you searched the whole universe for proofs of a negative statement? No? How do you know that they don't exist then?!

I can hear the disappointment in his voice when he reveals that, when you pull the tab, the contents don't squirt in your face.
