Bgmark2 Suspended for 1 Day
It's probably just overenthusiasm coupled with a wide range of interests, but Bgmark2 has already posted to 17 threads this morning, many of which were dormant. Though I don't think it was the intent to spam, and result is similar, and so I've suspended Bgmark2 for 24 hours just to make sure he notices that we're concerned about spamming types of behavior here. I encourage Bgmark2 to pick just a few threads to participate in at a time. The experience of moderators is that those who spread themselves thinly across many threads are unable to do so productively.

IamJoseph responded oppositionally to two prior moderator requests, so the behavior you observed is consistent with his past behavior. IamJoseph, if you're reading this, all viewpoints and perspectives are welcome here, but we do have a set of Forum Guidelines that we enforce in order to make discussion enjoyable and rewarding for everyone. The first guideline asks that members follow moderator requests. We have both creationist and evolutionist moderators. Other guidelines ask that members stay on topic, address rebuttals, provide links as opposed to lengthy cut-n-pastes, provide attribution for excerpts, and treat other members respectfully.

I'm not actually sure this has a clear interpretation, but given that it was posted in the moderation discussion thread where there has been a lot of recent difficulty, and given that NJ was one of the principals, I'm erring on the side of caution and issuing a 1 week suspension. -Admin

I fixed it to be 1 week. NJ and I were apparently both suspending HEWG at the same time. Somehow the software chose my 4 week suspension and his suspension message.

Amen's IP Contacted Concerning Abusive Behavior
Amen has been rejoining under new accounts, and they've been merged with his original suspended account each time. In his last post, Message 31, he threatened to hack the site. For this reason his ISP, Bellsouth, has been notified. Edited by Admin, : Fix dBCode.

Re: Paula Rose - 1 week suspension
Paula Rose seems like an otherwise very nice kid who lacks a conscience and can't resist going with what she feels. She's taken to participating primarily in [forum=-14] threads, so her presence will not be missed by any serious discussion, and this moderator has no problem with the length of the suspension. A noticeable number of current participants seem to believe that ignorance should not be an impediment to their participation in discussion. Much of this attitude seems to be driven by a belief that no one who actually knows anything substantial about science could possibly be participating at a mere Internet forum, but this belief is wrong. Many participants here know a great deal about science, and EvC Forum prefers informed discussion.
