Re: Amen brothers!
I think I've asked you before but I'd love to hear from all of you.
If you had been brought up in a religious environment that encouraged questioning any and all facets of faith, and one where the leaders had not tried to insist that obvious falsehoods like the Flood or Garden of Eden or the Exodus myth or the Tyre prophecy were fact, would it have made a difference?

Re: Amen brothers!
Thank you for responding.
Don't knock the Tao Te Ching though. I still read it often and I used to use it in some of my Sunday School classes for kids middle school age and above.
Please don't think I have any problem with someone becoming or being an atheist.
I might also still be going to Church if I were able to find one that welcomes atheists. (Maybe a Episcopal one?)
Well, as in all sects, there are many Episcopalians that would welcome atheists and not really much care if you were a believer of not, but we also have our share of folk that can be as exclusive as in any other sect.
I'm glad you are comfortable where you are and I'm sorry the transition was traumatic.

Re: Trapped By His Own Argument
Do you ever even read the Bible Ray?
2 Thessalonians is short, only three chapters, so folk can read the whole thing IN context.
2 Thessalonians
First it is a letter to a specific church relating to a specific issue that church faced at that specific time.
Second, you are misrepresenting the contents. The whole issue relates to those who might issue specific prophecies.
The readers can look at the whole letter and read it in context.
Does your constant Blaspheming of the Holy Spirit bother you?
Edited by jar, : fix spelling and add info on chapters

Re: Trapped By His Own Argument
I'm sorry ray, but one of us has provided links to all of 2 Thessalonian while the other is quotemining and taking things out of context.
IF you are attempting to say that what is written does not apply today, nor can it be interpreted to apply today, then this is false, since the Bible is the eternal word of God and since I have already shown perfect correspondence to the reality called Crashfrog.
I am saying that 2 Thessalonian is a letter written to a particular church dealing with particular issues faced by particular people at a particular time.
It is totally unrelated to whether or not Crashfrog was a Christian and later became an Atheist. You have shown no correlation between 2 Thessalonian and Crashfrog other than in your fantasies.

Re: Trapped By His Own Argument
I'm sorry but all you have done is take three lines out of context when 2 Thessalonian is actually three pages long.
It is also irrelevant and unimportant. Crashfrog is aware of all of 2 Thessalonian, and he came to the conclusion that it is but a fable.
You are basing your position on a believe that you are right but so far have shown no evidence to support your position other than quotemining and taking things out of context.
You also make absurd and false statments about "The Bible" as though some such thing existed.
Irregardless, Crashfrog has testified that he was a Christian and is now an atheist. For you to dispute that you need to show that at the time he was a Christian he did not really believe in God or the Christian Creeds.
Nobody cares about whether you think someone is deluded or damned, that's unimportant.
The key is that you need to address the facts.
