Re: EvC becomes more of a joke
Technically, her account is labelled "Inactive".
This means Faith can easily reactivate her account without the aid of admins.
This assumes, of course, that's there's only one type of "inactive" status.

Re: Faith's Membership Status
I don't see the red icon by her name on her posts.
If one could show me the list of currently suspended people that would be great.
The evidence for her only being inactive:

I checked in Board Central. Faith is under indefinite Suspension. If you don't believe me, ask another Admin.

The Limbo forum
I'm sure this question has surfaced many times unbeknownst to me, but I was wondering why we no longer consign problem posters to Limbo any more, as opposed to Showcase.
Why is this?

Re: Faith's Membership Status
I don't think that the red icon shows up for people who are permanently banned. It only shows up for people under temporary (timed) suspensions.

Making an account inactive will hide the personal information, and I am assuming the icon also.
Faith is indefinitely banned, her account is also set to inactive. I will change that if others find it hard to understand.

Re: EvC becomes more of a joke
Banned or suspended is ultimately the same thing, Jar is banned from posting until his suspension is up.
I was referring to Faith in the past tense as I know she is indefinately suspended, but we all know this is just worthless bluster and she would be allowed to return if she so wished.
We also all know that Faith and other creationist fundies, who really know very little about anything, are allowed to get away with far more than the free thinkers here.
If Faith had posted a similar post to Jar's then nothing would have been said, just as nothng has been done about a creationist admin waiting his chance to abuse his position and pounce on Jar at any opportunity.
But carry on, the whole e-community can see the discrimination here.

I humbly ask that you guys let this go. I can understand that a few complains here and there are great, but you guys are stretching this thing out several pages long. Ok, we all get the fact that some of you feel jar was unjustly suspended. Ok, we all get the fact that some of you don't want Faith coming back. We get all of that. Let's move on with our lives.
There's always the option of me hiding your posts.

Let me suggest what I suggest to people who want to censor television: Just don't look at it. It's not as if you were listening to your favorite EvC Forum sounds, and this track came blaring off the web. You have to actively click to read the material that bothers you so much.
So just don't do it.
And who is this "we" you refer to--got something in your pocket?

Real things always push back.

I tell people the same thing. In fact, I haven't been reading the complaints that much. And in no way I am saying that I don't like what you guys are saying. I'm just saying that you guys are making too big of a deal out of this. As a member of this community, I have a right to share my opinion. You guys have been having the opinion that Jar was unjustly suspended and Faith should come back. I am having my opinion that it is good that you guys are having those opinions, but you guys are dragging this way out of proportion.
And who is this "we" you refer to--got something in your pocket?
"We" refer to myself, at least some admins, and other members who share my view that this is dragging on long enough. Of course you are welcome to prove that I'm alone in this.

Suspended and Inactive
Apologies for the confusion regarding the suspended and inactive statuses. Here's a brief explanation:
  • Inactive: members and moderators can set their accounts active and inactive. This means they are not listed in member lists, and only their names are listed with messages, no other info.
  • Suspended: moderators can suspend members for periods ranging from one hour to indefinitely. The suspension automatically expires at the end of the time period. A red/bar icon appears next to the names of suspended members where space permits. Hovering the cursor over the icon displays a box of explanation about the suspension.
  • Inactive and suspended: combine the above. Even a suspended member can change whether their account is active or not. I should also display the red/bar icon next to inactive, suspended member's names, but I don't and that's an oversight that I'll fix in dBoard 3.0.

Re: EvC becomes more of a joke
Banned or suspended is ultimately the same thing, Jar is banned from posting until his suspension is up.
Is going to jail for a week versus the rest of your natural life the same thing too by your rationale? Jar isn't banned. If he was, he couldn't log in. And quite frankly, I see his name online right now.
Now, you can certainly argue the point that his suspension was unwarranted. That's fine. You're certainly welcome to that. And I suspect that in your tirade, this is what you were really trying to address.
I was referring to Faith in the past tense as I know she is indefinately suspended, but we all know this is just worthless bluster and she would be allowed to return if she so wished.
Actually, no. There was an impromptu vote in an Admin forum, that unfortunately you aren't privy to, otherwise I would show you. A few admins took a consensus to let her back. The final verdict, as of now, is that she's not allowed to come back. Jar, if I'm not mistaken, requested that she come back in another thread. But in the end, that "worthless bluster" still can't come back. (Charming attitude by the way. You're a gentleman and a scholar.)
Speaking of coming back, wasn't it you that opted to leave EvC because it just didn't stimulate you anymore?
We also all know that Faith and other creationist fundies, who really know very little about anything, are allowed to get away with far more than the free thinkers here.
Look, we're not going to go in to a debate about who gets away with more crap. As far as I'm concerned, most admins don't have some vendetta against an opposing ideology. (However, notice that I said most, not all. And no I'm not going to name names). People are suspended according to their attitudes, which so far, seems to have just as many theists suspended as non-theists.
If Faith had posted a similar post to Jar's then nothing would have been said, just as nothng has been done about a creationist admin waiting his chance to abuse his position and pounce on Jar at any opportunity.
There have been ample opportunities to technically suspend Jar. To my knowledge, he's been suspended a grand total of one time, which, btw, came from Percy-- hardly the evil creationist slime monster abusing authority as you presuppose.
But carry on, the whole e-community can see the discrimination here.
Since you come here intermittently, I'll simply pass that off as ignorance on your part.

Hey, don't say that. You're making people think we're going out or something.
