changed per Moose's bugling
Recently Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) testified before the Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works. Her testimony was heavily edited by the White House and other Executive Branch Agencies. Here is a link to a copy of teh full document, with the sections excised highlighted in yellow.
Original Copy with excised material.
Some of the comments excised are absolutely amazing. For example "Catastrophic weather events such as heat waves and hurricanes are expected to become more frequent, severe, and costly; the U.S. population is anticipated to continue to age and move to vulnerable locations such as coastal areas, increasing exposures to specific risks; and concurrent challenges such as water scarcity in certain regions could limit our resilience." was cut out.
Is there any excuse for excising such material?

Re: Where to place the thread
Preferably in the "more lies from the worst administration (excluding Reagan) in history", but I don't think we have that category.
So may be In the News or Coffeehouse.

Worthless topic title
When I saw the topic title I assumed it had something to do with editing messages in . That assumption was a bit off.
How about editing the topic title to something with enough information that it actually represents the topic theme?

Added by edit: Topic was promoted right after I originally posted this message. Original topic title was/is "On Edits." It still need a better title.
Edited by Adminnemooseus, : See above.

Re: changed per Moose's bugling
I saw this news last night. The report was 14 pages long. The Bush administration edited it down to 7 pages. Spokeswoman for the white house said that the Bush administration edited the report because of "scientific errors" and "outdated information", despite the fact that every scientist who worked on the report as well as the ones who proof read the report insisted that there was absolutely no error in the report.

Bump to see if anyone can support this stupidity.
Just wanted to see if any of the supporters of the Bush Administration would like to explain the redactions.

If the highlighted text is what was excised from the original document, where is the proceeding document to compare it with? How did you come to know about this document, and that it was changed to begin with?

Re: changed per Moose's bugling
That is the original and the yellow is what was excised before she testified.

Where did she testify? Is there audio or video imagery? How did you come to know about the alleged excising and who ordered it? This is what I am unclear on.

On redaction
She was testifying before a Congressional committee.
How did you come to know about the alleged excising and who ordered it?
I know about it because I actually follow news. As to who ordered it? Someone in the Administration.
Do you have some explanation why the material should have been excised?
AbE: Check Message 1 for the actual history.
