I read a great book recently by Evan Wolfson called "Why Marriage Matters - America, Equality, and Gay People's Right to Marry"
I would challenge some of those on the anti-gay marriage side to read this in full then explain how that position is legal, ethical, etc. He brilliantly discusses the issue of marriage and gay rights in general. What I liked was his use of some very conservative opinions to support his cause. People from the "I don't like it but it is not my business to legislate it either"-camp. Some of the personal testimonies of people harmed by existing policy were really heartbreaking.

No news here. Some time ago, I read an article written by someone who claimed to be a true conservative. He said that the republican party and the word "conservatism" have been hijacked by christian fundamentalists. If you are a true conservative, you should support human rights, not go against them.

PS I'm going to the library tonight to return some books and pick up new ones. I'll keep my eyes out for this one.

No need to mention it. I know a Vietnamese man who has just become a citizen here in the US. He's got a gay partner back home in Vietnam. He and his partner are desperately looking for any option so the two of them could be together here in the states.
You know, in a time and age when you can buy a wife online via a mail order bride bussiness, it absolutely disgusts me that the legal system would prevent two human adults who have been loving each other for years to live together and also have the opportunities that the states give.

Owing to the deficiency of the English language, I have occasionally used the academic jargon generator to produce phrases that even I don't fully understand. The jargons are not meant to offend anyone or to insult anyone's intelligence!
