some action needed in the Logic thread
In the thread - Is Logic a Valid Science in the establishment of ID as Scientific.?, we are almost a third of the way through the life of the thread and the premise discussed in the opening post hasn't been discussed one Iota.
Can I suggest a short break for the thread with some guidance for the thread starter on how to support an argument - there is the acorn of an interesting debate there but it is currently going in circles.

Re: some action needed in the Logic thread
I'm afraid we need action in the Logic thread again.
Please.
Someone step in and do something with M. Dawn Bertot.

Re: some action needed in the Logic thread
It appears to me that DB is, to be frank, a crank. He has a certain view of the world that is firmly set, and I bet that it's pretty near impossible for anything to get through to him, not without medication anyway. I bet that moderator action will be ineffective, and will only result in his banning.
Now some people may welcome this, although seeing how MartinV continues to make his mess on multiple threads, as does Willow Tree (currently going by Cold Foreign Object) this seems to be within accepted norms for a certain class of people.
DB is not making a mess of other threads; he's confining himself to the one thread, and I think that anyone reading that thread should be aware of what they will be in for if they choose to participate.
Just my 2 cents (American).
Added by edit:
I'll also add that DB started the thread himself in order to expound on his particular madness.

Re: some action needed in the Logic thread
AdminPD,
I'm afraid your warning has had no effect whatsoever.
Dawn continues to post ...
"An axiom is a self evident truth."
... to any and all responses.
This is unproductive and tiresome.
Perhaps a short suspension will change his tune.

Re: some action needed in the Logic thread
I tend to think that the best argument against Dawn Bertot is himself.
Let him continue to self-immolate and let the fundy/creo/IDist lurkers continue to mutter to themsleves, "Please get off our side."

Re: some action needed in the Logic thread
The previous ones didn't.
I have to say I think anyone who takes even a brief glance at that thread is going to see what Dawn's argument is like. If they still choose to enter the fray then they should already know what to expect.
I tend to agree with Chiroptera that as long as Dawn restricts himself to the thread he initiated to put forward his own position on the question its better for him to stay there and run in circles than take his logical propositions into other threads and derail them. People obviously want to bang their heads against a brick wall, given how popular the thread is, so what purpose does banning Dawn, who on his own constitutes one entire side of the debate, serve other than to create a brief hiatus in the proceedings.
TTFN,
AW

Nem closes Positive Evidence for Atheism thread
I really don't think an admin who participated to a fair degree should close that thread (in general).
I especially disagree with the admin who participated to a fair degree closing the thread after making the last post. (in general)
And I very strongly disagree with admin actions being made under the normal account profile. (in general)
NJ has performed all three actions in ray's thread.
NJ, open up the thread and let someone else close it, and please make admin actions in your admin name.

Will someone keep an eye on Beretta over at Why Should ID be Taught in Science Class?
He's trying to derail the thread. Again.

Excellent point. I tend to think along the same lines in such instances because, while annoying, it is not any way a breach of forum rules to have bad arguments.

It's clearly a violation of Rule 4.
And while MartinV could be said to have "bad arguments", this Dawn character has no arguments.
He simply repeats, ad nauseum, "It's an axiomatic truth."
This dude is in serious need of admin action.

Re: some action needed in the Logic thread
The only effective Admin action available is just to close the thread. There is no discussion going on between people other than Dawn and his interlocutors. If Dawn is suspended there will be nothing going on except more posts piling up for him to reply to with the same assertions when the suspension ends. We have already seen that brief suspensions don't make any difference and Dawn just continues as before.
Do you want me to close the thread? As is said before some people seem to enjoy beating their heads against a brick wall, if you don't and you don't like watching it then I recommend you stop following the thread. It will be played out in a day or 2 anyway at this rate and I sincerely hope no Admin would be foolish enough to promote a sequel thread to that disaster.
TTFN,
AW

Naw. Don't close it.
But don't youall have a cage for his sort? ... Some kind of "this-is-the-only-thread-this-wingnut-can-post-in" place that I remember somebody mentioning once not too long ago ...

Re: some action needed in the Logic thread
Yeah, the [forum=-37] forum. I'm sure if Dawn were to spread the same line and style of argumentation to other threads he would quickly find himself either banned or restricted there. But since he is just on the one thread he has effectively showcased himself, and it saves the admins moving the thread and setting up permissions for participation in the thread which was necessary for showcase threads.

AW

Re: some action needed in the Logic thread
I thought I saw an opportunity in taking a slightly different approach, so I recently began tilting with the Dawn Bertot windmill as Percy, but I'm not very hopeful. If I'm wasting my time it's on me - Dawn Bertot's unconstructiveness is very obvious.
So I guess I agree with AdminWounded - we should be more tolerant of those who restrict their problematic behavior to just a thread or two. Dawn Bertot and Beretta seem somewhat similar, sincere and polite but unable to move discussion much beyond a statement of position. As long as they limit this style of discussion to just a few threads it hopefully won't prove much of a problem.
