Once again you missunderstand. Read the passages again. notice the word heaven and that it is used in the singular 3 times and in the plural only once.
24:29`And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken; 24:30 and then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in the heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth smite the breast, and they shall see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of the heaven, with power and much glory; Appearently I confused you with the collapsing stars question, I was being sarcastic in response to this question.
sidelined writes: So exactly how do stars "fall" from heaven if you could please explain? I appologize for the missunderstanding, appearantly sarcasm doesn't translate well in the written word. I then used the Galileon definition of the word fall to illustrate that all objects in space fall. I then hinted at a possiblity, toward a center of gravity. Your idea....
Chiroptera writes: to mean something that was in the air or in the heavens rushing downward and hitting the ground (our ground, the earth) Is purely assumption. You are assuming that the passage was written for 1st cetury christians because that's who Jesus is speaking to; however, the passage is a prophacy concerning the future. He could have been (and I believe He is) talking to you and me. He could have ment stars, He also could have ment asteroids, meteors, comets (there is a passage in Revelation that speaks of 200 lbs. hail stones raining down on the earth, amoung other things), He could have been talking about satilites. There are even endtime prophacies in the old and new testiment where the term 'star' is refering to angels and/or deamons. You only have one line to work with here. There are plenty of other places in the Bible that speak (propheticaly) of stars being cast down. There are even a few verses that speak of the whole of creation (the universe) being roled up 'like' a scroll. (Hmm, sounds like a quantum singularity to me, at the very least a gravitational center) You might want to check those out before you start drawing conclusions. And no I wasn't changing the subject, I was illustrating your error in think that you know everthing.

Jar writes: Of course it does Have you even READ the qur'an? It does NOT gauranty eternal security. You have to earn your way into allah's kngdom by killing infidels (like myself and the Jews). Neither does it offer a loving Father figure in allah. You might want to recheck your information on all those other religions as well because they don't offer eternal security either, they are all based on the idea that man can earn his way into 'heaven' and/or paradise.

You have to earn your way into allah's kngdom by killing infidels (like myself and the Jews). Actually, I have read the Qur'an and you are full of shit. I've also read the Tao Te Ching, the works of Mencius, of Confucius, the Norse Sagas, The Eightfold Path and many other such sources. And although the topic is "Where Science And The Bible Meet", I expect there will be far more Muslims, Atheists and Satanists in heaven than your brand of Christians. If you actually read the Bible I think you will find that your brand of Christians are but the goats Jesus speaks of in Matthew 25 and he will tell you "Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." Now on the off chence you actually have something on topic, it is "Where Science And The Bible Meet". Immigration has been a problem Since 1607!

imageinvisible writes: ... appearantly sarcasm doesn't translate well in the written word. Well, yours doesn't. There's a pretty fine line between sarcastically trying to look like an idiot and actually looking like an idiot. For example, when you say something like:
quote: you not only look like an idiot, but an arrogant idiot too. Unless your sarcasm has failed to come through again, it looks like you think everything in the Bible is directed at you, and not at the people who lived at the time. Mind you, it would have been useful if the Bible was written as a science book to teach you and you alone, but it clearly hasn't done that. So, until you learn a bit more about how the English language works, I'd advise leaving the sarcasm to the professionals (and you might want to leave off the lectures on Hebrew and Greek too). Happy Birthday. Disclaimer: The above statement is without a doubt, the most LUDICROUS, IDIOTIC AND PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WILLFUL STUPIDITY, THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN OR HEARD.

And yet you chose to ignore the one claim I posted concerning science and the Bible and argue the off topic post, interesting.
Jar writes: I expect there will be far more Muslims, Atheists and Satanists in heaven than your brand of Christians. If you actually read the Bible Apearently you have never read the Bible either, (or didn't understand what you read) even though you do elude to Mat. 25 (that's verse 33 btw). What you fail to realize is that those are red letter words, i.e. Jesus is speaking. Jesus also said something else in John 14:6 "I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father exept through Me." So that just blows your whole theory about muslims, atheists, and satanists (AS IF, none of which accept Jesus Christ as God, or even as the Son of God) being in heaven. Those who where formerly these and accepted Jesus Christ as the Son of the living God, and the Root of their salvation, sure. But not those who profess to be such. Now do you have any comments on Message 86 or not?

Sure, that was full of shit too. Not only that everything in Revelations was about stuff that happened 1800 or so years ago, so if it prophesied satellite tv and internet shopping it is just yet another example of a failed prophecy.

Ringo writes: you not only look like an idiot, but an arrogant idiot too You even gave me a present too! To be verbaly persecuted because of the Word of God and my belief in Him; that's the best birthday present I have ever received! (and no, this time I'm not being sarcatic, I'm actualy quite blessed and thankful) God bless you! As to believeing that the Bible was written for me personaly, I wouldn't quite go that far. That it was written for the church, those who followed Jesus in His day, and those who follow Him now, and for any who truly seak to know God, this is what I believe. It was just as relavent then as it is now, but even more so now. For as it was in the days of Noah, for as it was in the days of sodom and gamorah, for as it was in the days of Moses, and for as it was in the days of Christ Jesus the Messiah, so it is know. So do you have any relevant arguements to my posts or did you just come here to wish me happy birthday and bring me presents?

If everything in the book of revelation happened 1800 years ago, then why are there still things like, mountains and islands? Where is the Kingdom of God that you suppose descended from heaven and is said to rest in Jerusalem? Where's the marrage feast of the lamb? The thousand year reign? The new hevens and the new earth? And why is the sun still here? Like I said....if you read it, it didn't sink in.

Appearently I confused you with the collapsing stars question, I was being sarcastic in response to this question. Ah. Thanks for clearing up the confusion. -
Is purely assumption. You are assuming that the passage was written for 1st cetury christians because that's who Jesus is speaking to; however, the passage is a prophacy concerning the future. Whoa! Now I'm confused again. First, you say that you were only being sarcastic when you mentioned collapsing stars. Now you're claiming that it's a serious possibility after all? Make up your mind, dude! -
He also could have ment asteroids, meteors, comets.... Well, I think he was referring to the phenomenon of "shooting stars" -- you know, seeing what appears to be stars falling from the sky. Why make this complicated? -
There are even a few verses that speak of the whole of creation (the universe) being roled up 'like' a scroll. Well, Revelation 6:14 talks about the sky, not the entire universe. It was the belief at the time that the sky was made of a solid material, and Isaiah 40:22 indicates a tent or cloth-like material at that. It sounds to me like a description of the dome of the sky being "rolled up" and packed away. Why are you making this complicated? "The guilty one is not he who commits the sin, but the one who causes the darkness." Clearly, he had his own strange way of judging things. I suspect that he acquired it from the Gospels. -- Victor Hugo

So do you have any relevant arguements to my posts or did you just come here to wish me happy birthday and bring me presents? I think your posts so far have been done away with adequately by others. Do you have anything pertinent to the OP?

Hello ArchArchitect. Welcome to EvC.
You may already know that Matthew 24:29 - Acts 20:20 - and - Revelation 6:12; are echoes of Old Testament prophecy, especially: Joel 2:31.quote: But did you suspect that this is about war? It is, you know. Just look at the context:
Pillars of smoke (from burning cities) tend to darken the sun and make the moon appear bloody red. "Day of the Lord" is a coined expression of Old Testament prophecy and invariably refers to military adventure (or misadventure):
The darkness of sun, moon and stars described in these passages has nothing to do with astronomical phenomena. It is a simple description of a sky which is darkened by war. Those of us who live in the West are familiar with the phenomena. We see it when a forest is burning in our neighborhood. And yes: the sun grows dark and the moon doesn't shine. "Falling stars" may describe artillery fire; but that sounds like a topic for another thread. Theology is the science of Dominion. - - - My God is your god's Boss - - -

quote: What an original statement too. It is typical of those who have no laws: there is no such thing as islamic law. A law is that what is accepted by the world at large, in their institutions, family relationships, judiciary and civic systems. A law is not a dogma or related to a revered name. There are 613 laws in the OT - all of them being active and accepted by the world at large today, despite the time factor of 3500 years and the Jews being in ever dislodgement and targeted not to exist. I see not a single Islamic law accepted by the world. Not a oner. The only place islamic laws are adhered to is where muslims are assured of death if they reject them. This appears to say something - which is beyond a mystery.

quote: The operative factor is not that this can refer to war and bloodshed, but that it can be over-turned. The rule is, a positive pledge [as in a promise of goodwill] cannot be over turned - not even by the Creator - because the Creator represents truth. But a negative pledge [as in a curse or punishment] can be over-turned by man, based on the 13 Attributes given to Moses, which includes mercy, repentence, kindness, forgiveness and truth. This is also the meaning in the verse, ISRAEL IS NOT RULED BY THE STARS - meaning all humanity, nationally and individually, can overturn every negative pledge. Equally, this premise has been exploited by many religions at different times, blaming their victims for their crimes - or assuming themselves as the healers when divine assistance comes. I find the small nation of Israel was sustained and returned, despite every attempt to desroy her, and while her demise was made akin to a Gdly premise: both christianity and islam have attached their entire beliefs conditional to Israel's demise, inculcating unquenchable hatred into humanity, affecting Billions with a virus they cannot rid anymore: destroying this hate virus appears to impact on their core beliefs. This is the reason for the irresolvable M/E conflict, now notoriously spinned by a host of false reasonings and dis-history. And to make it more blatant, both christianity and islam are in total M.A.D. contradiction of each other's doctrines: the jews would have been destroyed whichever of these they accepted! I feel certain that of any revered figures did actually manifest themselves, as is claimed by these two religions - then what their scriptures say cannot be attributed as true or correct. IOW, no Gdly agent could have said what is seen in the NT and Quran. Just my personal view.

quote: No revered person could say so. Christianity failed by its own doctrine: Islam emerged and made the same claim, and christianity rejected it. The fact is, this goes against numerous OT commands: I AM THE LRD THERE IS NO OTHER This means no one can speak on behalf of changing an OT law - specially not when they do not have the Creator by their side, as at Sinai. And the NT could not perform this feat - so they did the second best thing: bash the Jews! Also, this makes a mockery of all the 613 laws given via Moses, which remains the only antidote against false beliefs. I fully reject that such would have been said by a Jew in Judea - it sounds more as a Hellenist/Pharoahic/Roman decree, which the Jews faught against and resisted with all their might, in the greatest defense in all recorded history. WHEN FREEDOM OF BELIEF - BECAME MIGHTY ROME'S GREATEST WAR. Edited by IamJoseph, : No reason given.
