Mehrgarh
A small farming village in what is today Pakistan, Mehrgarh existed from about 7000BCE until around 3200 BCE, so its whole existence was prior to any of the Old Testament writings and would have been a sizable village at the time Adam was created.

Eridu
The Eridu culture goes back before even the Sumerian flood legend which predates the Biblical flood legend and allegedly happened even before the Biblical creation.
The oldest signs of civilization there was an agriculture community that had advanced to at least the stage of cooperative public works, for example building canal and irrigation systems. It likely dates to around 4000 BCE and may have been an offshoot or colony of the even older Samarra culture of around 5500 - 4800 BCE.

Re: Let's try to head back towards the topic.
Actually, most dating of things from that recent are dated based on a variety of things. One great tool for things that young is radio carbon dating. In particular radiocarbon dating can be used on organic materials including the remnants of the content of things like pottery.
Position can also tell us much; unless there are signs of disturbance something found lower is usually older than something found higher.
But remember, when we are talking about things from 20-30,000 years ago we are talking recent history, and of course things from 5-6,000 years ago are almost yesterday.
It's not like we are talking about really old stuff here.

Re: European Pottery between 6500 and 6000 years ago.
Sorry but that is simply bullshit.
Take it to some other thread.
The problem is that the idea of young earth has been falsified, it is daid, kick dirt in its face.
There is no evidence of a world-wide flood, ever. Period.
But as I said, strata are not directly involved. There are absolute methods of dating.
I do suggest that if you think any of that silly stuff can be supported, either bring it to one of the existing threads like the following and see if you can actually support such stuff.

Re: take it to a flood thread.
So far all you have presented are PRATTs (Points Refuted a Thousand Times).
Take them to the proper threads.
Jar, are you afraid that I might actually be making sense and supporting what you don't believe with some evidence that makes quite a bit of sense?
Hardly.

Re: take it to a flood thread.
Okay, but still, how do you get from the two-celled thing to the thirty-two celled one without anything in between, like a four, eight, or sixteen.
I'm sorry but what the hell does any of your nonsense have to do with the topic?
Is there any chance you might someday actually address the topic which is, in case you missed it, "The world and evironment 5767 years ago."
The flood is irrelevant.
Multicelled critters are irrelevant.
The topic is "The world and evironment 5767 years ago."

Re: From pottery to canyons....?
Pretty much like today. Every continent but Antarctica had been settled for tens of thousands of years. We had domesticated the horse and bridles had been invented. Technology was advancing rapidly and trade was very widespread. For more, read the thread.

Re: From pottery to canyons....?
I believe that men hadn't spread far enough to have civilizations, let alone different ones.
You might believe that, but the facts are otherwise. The east coast of the US was occupied over 20,000 years ago. The Jomon Pottery of Japan goes back to 10,000 BCE and they were producing works of art like these and this.

Re: From pottery to canyons....?
Well, sorry, but civilization was around LONG before 4000 BCE, as you can see from advanced pottery from all over the world going back considerably further.
It also depends on what you mean by "Civilization". There were extensive cities back then, trade covering most of the world, transportation, domesticated animals, evidence of beginnings of agriculture.
One of the neat things from that period are the shells found at Indian Knoll, Kentucky. They were making jewelery from shells from all over, the west coast, east coast, north east and gulf. That indicates a pretty extensive trading network stretching all across North America by about 3000 BCE or about 5000 years ago.
