Author | Topic: General Discussion Of Moderation Procedures 14.0 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
AdminPaul Inactive Member |
This is not the place to discuss the relevance. The point is that you need to include such an explanation in your OP. (I will warn you - in the hope that you will improve your OP - that you are ignoring information in your source which seriously undercuts the simplistic argument that you raise).

Thank you but the dispute is over. The thread will not be released to free discussion. AdminPD reccomendations are unacceptable for me.

Despite Sinequanon's topic, "Spiders are intelligent", he has agreed to provide a definition of intelligence only if a moderator agrees to adjudicate.
What that would involve, I don't know. Would anyone be interested?

look. i read the post and i didn't think it had a question in it. it's not about neodarwinianism, it's about being able to make a competent post. ok so we don't necessarily know why testicles dangle outside the bodies of mammals. great. since it's a terrible idea, does this make it an argument for id or something?
come up with a real question to ask and then someone will promote it.

I took him as asking an admin to adjudicate on whether he was required to define "intelligence."
In a sense, his opening post implicitly defines "intelligence" to be the same as "instinct". Unsurprisingly, people disagree. To comment on moderation procedures or respond to admin messages:

oh look. admin buz is acting in a thread he's active in against someone he disagrees with when he's incapable of defending his own baseless claims.
http://EvC Forum: Huckabee -->EvC Forum: Huckabee Brennakimi, this vulger, uncivil and inflamitory response is a violation of the following in item 10 of Forum Guidelines. i don't consider "bullshit" to be a vulgar word. get over yourself.

1. I had not been active in that thread for quite a long time at the time I issued the warning. There had been over 20 messages since my last parcipation.
2. My action had nothing to do with me or anything I posted. 3. This is suppose to be a fair and balanced board. As I stated, Obvious Child's violation was similar to yours. 4. You may not consider the term to be vulgar, but by and large it is considered to be a vulgar word in the public fora. 5. In the context, the demeanor of the response may seen by one's debate counterpart as inflamitory in nature which is not conducive to keeping the peace at EvC. We're not a board of prudes here but a respectable cite. Let's keep it civil as per Forum Guidelines with a reasonable concern for respect to one another. Perhaps it would be good for you to go back four messages from my warnng and note NWR's exemplary response to a similar situation. His response was . "That is clearly untrue."

I'm sorry Buz but bullshit is bullshit. And it is time we started pointing out bullshit for what it is; bullshit.

3. This is suppose to be a fair and balanced board. As I stated, Obvious Child's violation was similar to yours. you mean like how you break the rules with each and every post you make by refusing to post any evidence for all your ridiculous claims and then play moral police on the rest of us?
4. You may not consider the term to be vulgar, but by and large it is considered to be a vulgar word in the public fora. really? lets have a poll.
5. In the context, the demeanor of the response may seen by one's debate counterpart as inflamitory in nature which is not conducive to keeping the peace at EvC. sucks. also. i think you missed a verb.

and that's nwr's style. not mine. the individual i was responding to responded to me civilly and the discussion has continued thenceforth without issue. i think the problem here is one of moralizing on your part, especially considering the subjective nature of your plaint. First, it's questionable to be posting and moderating in the same thread. If you're going to use nwr as a model poster, use Percy as a model admin.
Second, it's questionable to use your admin status in a partisan manner to defend your buddy's bullshit. Third, it's laughable to use your admin status in such a petty manner - to bitch about one little word. “Faith moves mountains, but only knowledge moves them to the right place” -- Joseph Goebbels

Ringo, being one of two moderators for ideological balance in moderation it may be necessary to moderate in the same forum we participate.
As for your suggestion that I use Percy for moderation example, he along with other admins regularly moderate in forums which they have partipated in. I think it's quite disingenuous and in violation of Forum Guidelines for you to disregard Admim action as you have here by the usage of vulgarity and uncivil wordage which I advised against. That's all I have to say regarding this matter (abe: for now). I'll leave it for other admins to rule on, given the controversial aspect of it. Edited by AdminBuzsaw, : clarification

ideological balance what exactly does ideology have to do with discussion moderation? NOTHING.

Brenna, you're right.
If Buz is going to be even-handed then he should warn everyone who uses the word. Let's see, as of today, that would be 76 times in the last month alone.
