this is what "fair and balanced" means, apparently.

Re: admin buz
Ideological balance is revelant here. I agreed with the admin warnings and NWR's actions in moderation of creationist Obvious Child regarding civility and respect. One of Admin's purposes in recruiting creationist moderators was to bring a balance to administration. Doesn't that make ideology relevant to this discussion?
I figured since creationists are being held to item 10 of Forum Guidelines, perhaps it's time some of you people get with the rules as well and begin showing a reasonable (I say reasonable) amount of respect for your counterparts in the debates.

This is an example of why you believe bullshit like the fulfilled prophecy and the bullshit about the "Exodus Reveled" video. Calling a message bullshit has nothing to do with respect for the person. I have the greatest respect for YOU Buz, even though your positions you post are absolute bullshit.

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Re: admin buz
last time i checked, the argument i was involved in wasn't about creationism. it's a cute little box you've built, but it's completely irrational. it was between two christians about whether religion is the only source or morality. that has nothing to do with creationism. just because i *happen* to accept the facts of evolution and nem *happens* to deny them, has nothing to do with the discussion and therefore your "ideological" crap is unwarranted. if by ideological balance, you are instead referring to your moral policework, in a discussion on morality, it's anything but balance.
even better, it's already been demonstrated that your moral policework is shoddy and haphazard, what with me being the only case of "bullshit" being called out of 78 alone this month (you know, until recently. i've seen at least 4 more).

Re: admin buz
Mobiogirl, I realize others have used the term, but Brennakimi has been notorious for caustic responses in which this vulgar term is used in a very meanspirited manner as appeared to be the case here.
My action was, in fact, nothing but a warning. I had hoped that others would respect the warning but Ringo's response a few messages back squelched those aspirations.
I've been with EvC going on 5 years now. Maybe I'm mistaken but I believe vulgarity and meanspirited communication has been on the increase of late. Imo we should all work to maintain a respectful and hospitible atmosphere for the members and readers at large. If we don't draw the line somewhere the cite becomes an unpleasant experience for all.
I said I was not going to say more on this, but it appears more responses were needful.

Re: admin buz
You either purposely ignore or completely miss my point, Brennakimi. Moderation balance is relative to the creo or evo ideology of the member as to which side of the isle the member is on.
It has been determined in past discussion that member admins have a natural tendency to favor their own ideological kind. Get it?

and that still leaves unanswered why you're so haphazard in your policing of "vulgarity".
just because you're biased doesn't mean i should suffer for your random self-righteousness.

what was "meanspirited", exactly, about my post? your assumptions really bother me.
I've been with EvC going on 5 years now. Maybe I'm mistaken but I believe vulgarity and meanspirited communication has been on the increase of late.
i think it might be related to the increase of baseless bullshit and "meansprited" polarization by people who claim that all people must be biased against those who disagree with them and only people who agree with them exactly are part of their special club and that anyone who disagrees with them is deserving of genocidal atrocities.
work to maintain a respectful and hospitible atmosphere for the members and readers at large.
you know, except for muslims and fake christians. they deserve to be raped with machetes and murdered.
If we don't draw the line somewhere the cite becomes an unpleasant experience for all.
oh, i see. he thinks cite refers to the website. this must be why he refuses to give sources for his claims.

Arach.
Fair enough. I spent 12 years onstage (standup) in NYC. What can I say?
Sometimes I go after a heckler.
But I agree. I crossed the line.

Soliciting the opinion of other admins.
In a sense, his opening post implicitly defines "intelligence" to be the same as "instinct".
While leaving both undefined.
It seems to me that in the past, when asked for clarification of an OP, other posters have been encouraged to comply.
Providing a definition of intelligence/instinct isn't that much of a stretch.
Does anyone agree?

Re: admin buz
1. This is not a thread to debate topics.
2. You will get no more responses from me with this attitude and language. I'm an administrative moderator without pay but like the others require a reasonable amount of respect for the position.
3. Unless the consensus among admins is that my action was out of order, I will be monitoring your conduct. If you violate the civility clause of item 10 which I have cited you will be subject to suspension.

under this. but under your other name, you're a regular poster with a terrifying record of hatefulness and unfounded claims. i refuse to respect this side of you because you've given me no reason to. your insistence that i respect you just because of your position isn't buying your admin side any points. congrats, you have magical buttons. using them improperly means you're a bad admin.
I will be monitoring your conduct.
there's a nice game. how long are you going to use this as an excuse to target me?
Edited by brennakimi, : No reason given.

The meaning of "intelligence" is highly contentious. There are many books and journal articles on that question, and it is still not resolved.
I am treating Spiders are intelligent as an attempt to explore it. I don't expect anything to be settled. But I hope sinequanon will at least get some useful ideas about how other people are using the term.

Let's end the political smears

From Distinguishing Design Message 63.
You have titled your topic "Distinguishing 'designs'" - why don't you define the very many different meanings of 'design'?
Seems I'm not the only one with this sort of question.

Re: Soliciting the opinion of other admins.
Asking for definitions is often useful, particularly when somebody is misusing a technical term. But "intelligence" can't really be considered a technical term, since nobody has a satisfactory definition.
I guess I am seeing Spiders are intelligent as more an attempt to explore a concept than to challenge accepted science.
