Re: My Personal Reaction
As for ID when it comes to filling in gaps, no one uses God as a filler, unless it used generically.
But then does 'a designer did it' add anything that is scientifically constructive? For example look at the bacterial flagellum as an often cited example of an IC system. Could you give IDs scientific explanation of the origins of this structure?
In a quick general question, when do you think a designer stopped designing, allowing evolutionary processes to take over, and how did you conclude this?

What is the difference between God and some external designer?

Immigration has been a problem Since 1607!

-jar
that would depend on how you define God.
let me propose that God is in effect: existence.
this would not rule out that the origin of life on the planet couldn't have been from a hydrogen based life form from the planet boobaloob who was just curios what would happen if he took a crap on a planet that had the potential to support life.

That merely redirects the problem tesla. Now you must define existence.

And then you must explain in what effect existence can substitute for God

Re: My Personal Reaction
it wouldn't be a "substitution" it would be a definition.
which is what drew me to this site, and is why i still await my "great debate".
in the mean time: define "i am"

But the term God has historically never been applied to mere existence but to the mystery "behind" existence. As such it has been subjugated to being a condition separate from existence. By stating that God is in effect defined as existence you are narrowing the focus down to phenomena and deciding that the supernatural aspect{ God's separation from existence} is not applicable.
I am not sure that this will find acceptance in religious circles since it circumvents the established doctrine, and it is hardly science to assign a new name to existence by equating the term God
with the same meaning since it adds no knowledge to our understanding.

And now, a word from our topic...
Since there seems to be some uncertainty about how discussion should proceed from here, it's worth noting that this thread has been off-topic since very early on. See thread title.

Spotted at the thread from antievolution.org dedicated to the movie:

I'll say one thing about the individual who designed the poster, he has one hell of an imagination.

The release date for the movie has been set back from February to April 18th.
Here's an interview of Ben Stein with Bill O'Reilly from last October 22:
