Re: sorry to nag, buttt
but can you think of a better way to show his unconditional love than becoming a lesser being just for us?
I can. He can quit worry about that sin nonsense and actually love us and accept us for who we are just like any decent parent loves and accepts her children even when they take a different path in life than she originally had hoped for.

Re: sorry to nag, buttt
...is that not what your parents did when you were bad....
My parents never sentenced me to eternal torment, no.
Anyway, I'm just answering a question. What else could God do to show his love for us? I answered it: forget the sin crap and eternal punishment nonsense. Sorry that you didn't like the answer.

Re: sorry to nag, buttt
Sorry, I assumed that you were a traditional evangelical Christian and believed that those who are not saved will spend eternity burning in Hell, which, as you seem to acknowledge, would make God very unloving indeed.
But since you seem to believe that a loving God simply punishes everyone by giving them a "time out" before he accepts them all back into his home, then I guess we have nothing further to discuss.

Re: sorry to nag, buttt
...but you refusing his sacrifice is alot different then stealing a cookie from the cookie jar....
Okay, so you admit that your comparison with human parents was inappropriate.
The question I answered was this: how could God show his unconditional love better than being a "sacrifice"? I answered that question.

Re: Sin nonsense
God is not just 'any decent parent', he is the Holy of Holies....
Tell that to TheTruth. He's the one who tried comparing God's punishment to what parents do.

Oops.
I guess I did bring it up.
Well, I still maintain, though, that I answered the question which originally interested me.

Re: Oops.
A better way for God to show his love for you would be to treat you like the child of his you are not?
Yes, that is my answer to the question. Were my posts unclear?
-
Sounds like a immovable object / irresistable force moment.
I'm not sure what this means. A question was asked, and I answered the question. Whether or not God takes my opinions into account in his decisions is another matter entirely.

Re: The Flood?
Should you have paid for any debts that your father left?
Well, people used to have to do such a thing. Things like debt passing onto the next generations, things like group punishment (killing or enslaving an entire family or tribe for the infractions of one), things that we now consider wrong used to be considered a normal part of justice way back in the day.
It doesn't mean that our ancestors were wrong and we are right, just that they used a different standard of morality than we do today.
