To keep this subject open, at moderators suggestion, I thought I'd re-start this topic.
I think gay marriage is a farce, it is disgusting, it is everything that is the beginning of the end of the human race.
This is a test from God, and look what happened - we got AIDS.
Be gay if you want, but know that you're going to hell.

The issue worth discussing is not whether or not gayness makes you feel icky.
Its about whether or not gays should be allowed to have marriages from a legal perspective.

in my opinion, it's the thin edge of the wedge. Did you see the article about the pregnant man? Will we make this a constitutional right for all gay men to have womb transplants?? Seriously it's like 3 years away.

Reply to Rhain from other thread
I typed up this message for the other gay marriage thread but it was closed before I could submit it. I'll just post it here.

From message 423:
What part of "this right has been recognized as one of the basic, inalienable civil rights guaranteed to an individual by the California Constitution" are you having trouble understanding?
The part where it says that they have a right to a literal MarriageTM of someone of the same sex when marriage can only be between one man and one woman.
What they say that gays have a right to is this:
quote:
an officially recognized and protected family possessing mutual rights and responsibilities and entitled to the same respect and dignity accorded a union traditionally designated as marriage.
and I agree.
Gays have a right to have a social contract that functions like marriage. They don't, however, have a right to same sex MarriagesTM.
quote:
Then you guys are saying that gays are the same basic thing as black people.
Indeed. You seem to be intimating that there is something wrong with that.
Well, I wasn't.
I was responding to someone else who said that they were not saying that gays and blacks are the same thing.
From message 425:
quote:
I do not support the right of right of homos to marry. That isn't active denial of a right though.
Incorrect. As many court cases have shown, and have been quoted here, marriage is a fundamental right.
My point was the I, myself, have not actively denied a right to gays. (not that marriage isn't a right)
quote:
I'm saying that they don't have a Constitutional right to marriage within the same sex.
The Constitution says differently.
Are you saying that when the Loving v. Virginia case declared marriage to be a fundamental right, that was the wrong thing to do?
The Constitution does not say differently.
and Loving v. Virginia could just as easily be read with the proper definition of MarriageTM.
But gay people can't get married despite marriage being a fundamental right under the Fourteenth Amendment.
How do you reconcile that?
Gay people can get MarriageTM but they, just like everyone else, have to abide by the rules on what marriage is.
quote:
In a similiar way, NJ and HM's comparisons don't say that gays and gravity, or trees or whatever, are basically the same thing.
Right...because humans are the same thing as a force and a tree.
I wasn't saying that they are the same thing
You seem to be saying that gay people aren't actually people, that they aren't citizens. How else to explain your continued insistence that fundamental rights don't apply to them?
Well, I wasn't.
The rights do apply to them and they apply to them the same way they apply to everyone else.

How come most of the things you think I'm saying, or the ways that what I say "seem" to you, aren't really what I'm actually saying?

They shouldn't be allowed to be married. They shouldn't be allowed to practice homosexuality or lesbianism in the first place.
Like I said, God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

You're welcome to your opinions, but the Constitution disagrees with you. Our laws must follow the Constitution over people's opinions.

Rrhain's gayness, or not
This from Message 447of the Cali Supreme Court ruling on legality of same-sex marriage ban for Rrhain to respond to:
Hoot Mon writes:
Rhain writes:
note the assumption you have made that I am gay. Is there a particular reason you have ascribed a sexual orientation to me? I know I haven't mentioned it. And note, I am still not mentioning it even now. Rest assured that you don't know me from Adam and such assumptions you make are simply that.
I have made no such assumptions. But rest assured that if you were attacked by real bigots up on Capitol Hill in Seattle”the designated gay haunt”I would bust my knuckles to protect you. I'm not out to do anything to gays except keep their "marriages" out of the law. Neither one of us has moral authority over the other on this issue. And neither one of us should be accusing the other of bigotry. We are only debating opinions here. And my opinion seems to have the weight of consensus, for whatever that's worth.
You should have such a "bigot" as me to be your adversary. Would a bigot punch out a skinhead to save a queer? I've already pushed one skinhead up against the wall in Pioneer Square for pissing on a homeless person.
Am I the kind of bigot you despise just because I oppose "gay marriage"?

If marriage was a test from god that led to the outbreak of aids, than why was homosexuality around a very long time before aids and why is it that aids should affect all sexual preferences? If this is a god designed virus to punish what christians believe to be immoral conduct than it should be punishing only those committing the act. After all, god(according to the bible) has caused other plagues to only affect those who god deemed worth punishing, while leaving others unaffected. IMO these types of statements are only for the purpose of justifying a prejudice.

Andy catches his flies with vinegar, rather than honey
Be gay if you want, but know that you're going to hell.
Believe what you want about the ultimate disposition of gays if you want, but know that there are more constructive ways of getting your point across.
Or did you think homosexuals were going to come running to Jesus this way?

“I know where I am and who I am. I'm on the brink of disillusionment, on the eve of bitter sweet. I'm perpetually one step away from either collapse or rebirth. I am exactly where I need to be. Either way I go towards rebirth, for a total collapse often brings a rebirth." -Andrew Jaramillo

Re: Trolls
Wether I believe it or not is besides the point. I am merely responding to the statements of andygodlove in the OP. Namely that homosexuality is a test from god that led to the outbreak of aids.

Re: Trolls
An internet troll is someone that intentionally says things to cause dissension. What I am saying is that this Andy fellow may not actually believe any of the hateful statements he's made. He may have said it just to be a jerk for the sake of being a jerk. Does that make sense? In which case, don't take it personally.

Oh yes. Actualy the confusion was the fact that my name is Andy as well . However if AGL does indeed hold true to his statements. I would like to discuss what I see as fallacious in a Christian world view such as that. Or anyones world veiw, in the matter of why we would/ should discriminate against a certain set of peoples.

Re: Reply to Rhain from other thread
You are aware that it is the lawmakers that make the laws concerning marriage right?
Thus the legal definition of marriage is whatever the law says. If your constitution gives equal protection to all citizens, then you must change the laws to fir the constitution.
Then the definition of marriage will include same sex, just like it now includes different skin tones.
Then gay marriage will be a part of marriage(TM)
You sound as if the definition of a marriage is immutable.
