I know of at least one occasion that "The X-Files" also poked some fun at the Fox network. It was in the situation (in the context of the program) of there being an autopsy of what turned out to be a fake alian.

Concerning the original band banning snafu - They couldn't have gotten such good publicity if they paid for it.

That said, I suggest that the news media discussion be spun-off into it's own Coffee House topic. To me (being the left-winger I am), it is too significant to be buried in this topic.
​
I considered making this suggestion an admin mode thing (and possibly force the issue by closing this topic), but decided that I had to much of a personal bias for such actions to be proper.
