I cannot find the post/reply in here where I was corrected in my monkey to man understanding.
I thought evolution teaches that modern man evolved from ape. But I was corrected in here somewhere that that is NOT the correct understanding; that I had fallen victim to AIG.
Rather, this person said, the correct understanding is that both ape and man evolved from a common ancestor.
Are there two camps on this?

Re: simple and complex
Genesis says that God made man from the dust of the earth. So I see no problem with science observing that we have a great deal in common with say, common yeast.
Is this a point where Creationists and Evolutionists have some common ground/understanding?
It seems that the monkey to man visual that we have had shoved down our throats at the zoo and science exhibits would suit both camps better if they showed one line coming out of the "soup" and then splitting up into different creations (or mutations in the EVO case); it would be a much less antagonistic visual.
Don't you think?

Re: simple and complex
I don't think man amidst the other branches would freak any creationist out. I have no issue with it.
And differing prerogatives were never in question.
Going back to my original question...
Seems to me we have some common ground, or should I say soup... eh?

Re: Soup?
The visual Joke? It's plastered all across America. The Columbus (ohio) zoo has this cartoon as a beautiful mural.
And it's in many text books.
I agree its not accurate or funny.

Re: the evolution image
And most evolutionary biologists won't object because it serves the objective of excluding a designer.
God made man from the dust of the earth. This is why man has so much in common as say, common yeast.
We all DO have a common ancestor. We all can agree on that!

They are not not personally involving themselves in the public understanding of science.???????????? What cave are you in?????
Good day gentlemen, I cannot sit here all day and bow to your semantic demands. We are not sharing the same rule book.

I'm asked to define dust and no one is bothered.
I ask for definition and I am a prick.

Re: the evolution image
Further, my thoughts cannot be tested or proven, so why would science be interested in something that cannot be put to a test?

Re: the evolution image
I do not concede any point to you.
I am simply walking away.
I am not in here to fight.
So I am walking away.
I get called pussy and prick.
You asked: "Do you honestly think that all evolutionary biologists are personally involved in trying to increase the public understanding of science? "
Did you want me to pick apart your question as you do mine and insist that you rephrase the question using terms more pleasing to me before I answer them? You know that I would not say "ALL" and do you think that I would respond "DISHONESTLY"?
But that is what you do when I ask a question; "dust" is the term the Bible uses, so how am I to define "dust" - I am using terms given.
It is exhausting to discuss someone who at every angle is trying to find how they can disagree.
I asked a simple question: Don't you think that Creationist and evolutionist share common ground on the point of common ancestor?
Thank you for explanation of the ape camps.

No Purpose
There really any reason to pursue this conversation; it's futile for both of us.

Re: No Purpose
I just don't think so.
The folks in here are so boxed in to this set of rules of engagement that they cannot even lighten up for a moment and take a conversation or question at face value.
Dr. Francis Collins said that one of the reasons he thinks that God used evolution to create, is because he saw too many similarities between (I think I'm quoting or coming close to it) "human DNA and yeast."
When I heard this, I'm thinking, "has he read Genesis?!" Why wouldn't we have similarities at that level?
But I'm done with that question. I thought, of all places, that I could get a face-value understanding of what I was getting at.
The folks in here ONLY want to play chess. So I come in here with my checkers, and I say, HEY! look, our boards have something in common!
They are so focused on the differences - my board has black and red in it, and theirs is black and white... that they cannot open their minds for a split second moment and see the commonalities.
There really are no truly open and changeable minds in here and I'm including myself. And I cannot satisfy the questions asked of me, any more than they can satisfy mine.
