Re: Sounds Like Hell to Me!
I don't think I've ever understood that part of the whole Christian dogma - that Jesus died for our sins or whatever. What exactly was he supposed to do? What was the point of this, or what did he do it for? It's never really been explained to me.
As for this whole heaven thing... by the rules of most of the major Christian religions, I'm going to any number of hells - they'll probably have to cut me up small beforehand . So to be honest, I don't care all that much about the opinion of the Christian deity - I'm more interested in this world.

I'd just like to say that any Christian who talks about Jesus or hell is being disobedient if he or she does not do so with the utmost respect, love, and lack of judgment, as the Bible says (I know some verses here and there, but I'm awful with the location, so forgive me). Obviously there are a lot of people who profess to have relationship with God but who do not show the fruit that is said to come from that.
Hey cool, this means that I can mouth off as much as I want about Christianity!
Of course, I'm not going to. But then again I don't need some book to tell me what to be respectful of.

As for your comment about not finding Christianity fulfilling, I would most confidently argue that when one truly experiences God, it is not dissatisfying.
So what happens if one experiences God, but rejects Christianity? Pagans experience a variety of gods - but by the traditional view of Christianity, they should be burned at the stake as witches etc.

Of course, many people don't accept the Bible, and by doing so they deny the very evidence that you call for.
Not true. Using the same example - a Wiccan, for instance, accepts all sorts of supernatural events, but rejects the Bible because it's not part of their religion. They accept evidence of the divine, but why should they attribute it to a god they don't believe exists?
quote:
If someone "becomes a Christian" and then decides they're not satisfied, then either they are offering an excuse or they had never truly received the Holy Spirit.
That is merely your opinion. There are a few people on this site that left Christianity for other reasons, myself included. Is it so hard to admit that Christianity may be in some way flawed, or that it is capable of driving people away?
There's my two cents -> $0.02
