Creationists' icons
I never heard of these so called Icons of evolution before, in fact the first time I heard of them was when I watched a creationist video. Never before that had I heard of Piltdown man, Nebraska man, Archeoraptor, or any of the others mentioned. So, it seems these "icons" aren't being constantly rehashed.
The "icons" are being constantly rehashed -- by creationists.
While we are waiting for the creationists to show up and tell us how science operates, and what it should do, here are some good links on the "icons" for background information:
Piltdown Man
Nebraska Man
Archeoraptor

Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge.

Discovery Institute
Try reading Well's response to his critics on the Discovery Institute website -an article entitled "Critics Rave over Icons of Evolution". Critics Rave Over Icons of Evolution | Discovery Institute
Why should we read anything at the Discovery Institute website, or if we did, why should we believe a word of it?
They are committed to being anti-science and anti-evolution, and have a very poor record of accuracy.
From the wiki article:
Their real goal seems to be destroying evolution, along with any science which disagrees with their fundamantalist beliefs. From the Wedge Document:
How are they going to get a theistic science? The only way they will be able to do that is through an increasingly theocratic government. (The last time we had that it was called the Dark Ages.)
No, I see no reason to read anything the Discovery Institute says, nor to believe it if I did.

Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge.

    Proof in science
Evolutionary ”science’ is based on hypothetical possibilities that are certainly not proven.
Please name one theory in science that is "proven."

Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge.
