Sarah and Mission Impossible
Just a little bit cynical there, Michael? Do you really think American life is very different from SNL? I give the American electorate credit, though, for electing Obama. And I give Sarah Palin credit for taking on Mission Impossible when she already had a mess of problems on her plate. I don't have to like her politics to admire her. Her transparency was refreshing.

No apology necessary. I had no intention of insulting Bugs.
Now, having said that...

I have to ask...what transparency?
Transparency vis--vis the opacity of substance? Refreshing vis--vis the stale smell of elephant dung?

Well...that's all fine and dandy...except for one tiny little detail. She was anything but transparent. She really provided little to no information...other than her annoying banter about being a "maverick" and a "hockey mom". How many interviews did she give? Let's see, I can think of only two...and she did not do too well in either (the Fox "interview" cannot seriously be considered as anything other than a complete joke).
All of which makes her a crafty politician. Just what do you expect from politics? I've seen interviews with Sarah that appeared to be candid and honest enough for me. I didn't see any Richard Nixon in her, or any George W. I saw a young mother of five who was as genuine and authentic as anybody can be in politics, even if she stands opposit to some of my key liberal values.
But, hey, if you call yourself a Democrat and bought the Bill Clinton bullshit then you wouldn't see what I see in Sarah Palin.

Yes, fallacycop, I see a lot of what you see in SP. But I'm trying to look beyond that as objectively as possible. I don't think she's bad for believing in God. And I don't think she's bad for falling in line with Republican politics. Why is she so bad for disagreeing with your politics?
Here a test for you. Which one on these bad acts was worse than the other: Bumbling Bush leading America in a preemptive attack on a sovereign nation, or the obsequious Democrats who let him do it?

But what was so bad and the Clinton administration? Was it perfect? Fuck no. Did I agree with everything he did? Fuck no. Would I have preferred him as President again as compared to this catastrofuck of an Administration. Fuckin-a-right I would have. Give me Bill Clinton any day over the assholes we've been stuck with for the last eight years.
Bill Clinton is a stupid man, and he proved it. I don't want to see his sucky face on my TV set anymore. And, for that reason, I'd rather see Sarah in there as Secretary of State than Hillary. But what we're gonna get is Bill Clinton Lite.
Imagine how cool it would be to have Sarah Palin addressing at the UN in a last ditch effort to avert World War III. Could she do any worse than Colin Powell did with his littany of lies?

POTUS stupidity
FO writes:
Stupid? Let's see..he attended and graduated from Georgetown, Oxford (as a Rhodes Scholar), and Yale. I'd call him lots of things, but stupid certainly would not be one of them. What makes him so stupid in your book?
I didn't say he was dumb. Bill Clinton was stupid for taking all those academic credits you mention and putting them in his blood-engorged cock so that it could get sucked for a blissfull moment by a young intern in the hallway leading to the Oval Office. Not even George W. is capable of such stupidity. And Bill Clinton continues to be stupid when he ignores the fact that many, many of his former supporters await a full disclosure of why and how he thought he could do it and get away with it. His expectation of getting away with it amounts to the greatest act of stupidity ever committed by a POTUS in the White House.
Name one more stupid than that.

And there's the astonishing fact that a stand-up comedian can nearly win a Senate race in Minnesota. What kind of a government do you want: a corrupted one or a joke? I think most Americans learn who we are on SNL. We're a tabloid mediocrity, and I think another Great Depression is coming our way to remind us that Natural Selection also works on an economic landscape. With Sarah Palin on one end of it and Al Franken on the other, we don't know whether to laugh ourselves silly or drop the Big One now.

I agree...thank you George W Bush and company. What's your point?
My point is that the Democrats didn't have the balls (or the ovaries) to hold him in check. I don't blame Iraq so much on Bush as I do the Democrats. I voted for them to ride herd on the Cowboy Republicans. But, instead of that, they went to the bunkhouse and took a nap.
Just watch and see how much social progress in made under BHO. I'm not yet convinced that his fellows Dems have enough guts to be Progressives. It's going to be hard to be Progressive when the wheels are falling off.

Nixon, watergate?
Of course, if we want to talk dumb presidents, none take the cake perhaps more than those leading up to the civil war who practically let the country tear itself apart and did practically nothing to prevent it. A blowjob versus a civil war, hm. A blowjob versus watergate, hm.
Oh, sure, they were stupid, all right. But they had partisan objectives; they were principled by the rules of political infighting. Bill Clinton's only principle, where Monica was concerned, was to receive a quick rush of pleasure and not get caught. He was extra-sneaky stupid. Where's his moral authority after that?

Concise, but repetitious and off topic.
George W Bush and his administration bear sole responsibility for getting us into this fucked-up mess.
You obviously haven't been paying very close attention to contemporary history over the last 8 years. I'd stick with "Blah, blah, blah" if I were you.
Let's get back to Sarah. Yes, she was refreshing, to me. I never said she had to be refreshing to you. So, in terms you can understand: "Blah,. blah, blah."

Is that what's bothering you? Monica Lewinsky? I have to say I couldn't care less. And I'm not alone. Bill's ratings were much more favorable at the end of his presidency the Bush's now. If the constitution had alowed him to run a third time, he would probabily have been re-elected.
That's because everybody was out to get a BJ in that pre-911, Clinton decade. You could afford one on Clintonomics. Clinton took one of the four pillars of Reaganomics”deregulation”and he ran with it. And he flubbed the Balkan War. His administration in few ways prepared us for this decade, except for good ol' Al Gore and his greenhouse gas.
Let me ask you this, fallacycop. If you found out that Barack Obama got a BJ from an intern in the hallway leading to the Oval Office, would you be disappointed in him? You'd be crushed, and you know it. Well, so was I with Clinton. How could he have been so stupid?
I don't think that even stupid ol' Sarah Palin is that stupid.
