Re: gimme those oldtime MS
but it is still very well established who the original writers were.
Every single Old Testament book is anonymous, no one knows who wrote any of them.
This is basic Sunday School level stuff Peg.

Re: gimme those oldtime MS
There is no question as to who wrote Genesis.
Of course there is. It is generally accepted that there was at least 4 authors, or schools, involved in contructing the Book of Genesis. Why do think there are so many anachronisms in the texts? How can Moses have written about things that happened after he was dead? Also, why do we have 2 different creation myths and two different Flood myths? If there was only one author of The Book of Genesis then it would not be in the mess that it is in, it would read far more smoothly.
“The book of the law of Moses” and similar references to the first five books of the Bible, of which Genesis is one, are to be found often from the time of Moses’ successor, Joshua, onward.
But this doesn't prove anything Peg? Nowhere in the Book of Genesis is the author identified, or even hinted at.
Personally, I do not think that Moses even existed, the fact that we don't even know his name is a pretty bad slip up.
Moses’ writership has never been questioned by the Jews.
You really need to stop pulling these ridiculous statements out of your butt.

Re: gimme those oldtime MS
You really do not seem to tire of simply making things up Peg, honestly where do you keep digging up all this misinformation from?
it is made up of many hundreds of manuscripts.
How do you know this?
Chapter 1 and Chapter 5 of genesis for instance would be contained in two separate scrolls.
Utter bullshit Peg.
The Bible was not divided up into chapter and verse until about 750 years ago, more than 2000 years after Genesis was supposed to be written. You should check out Cardinal de Sancto Caro and Stephen Langton.
So, there was no chapter one or chapter five or chapter anything, you are just making up crap again. In fact, check out DSS IQISa, it contains the entire book of Isaiah.
When the early collators put them together, they made them into book form. they decided where a verse and chapter begins and ends.
As I said, if you are going to make things up you should make sure that the person you are discussing these things with is as ignorant of the Bible as you are.
Will you please stop posting things that you pull out your butt?

Waste of time
I don't think you fully understand the way discussions work Paul
We are supposed to believe everything that Peg says is true without asking for supporting evidence.
Peg is allowed to just make things up and we have to accept them as being true.
It doesn't matter if we know Peg is inventing things, she is allowed to say whatever she wants to maintain her skewed version of history, but don't expect her to provide evidence for it.
It must be great to have followers who question nothing and accept ridiculous claims without even looking in to their plausibility.

The only way to hopefully recover a more accurate understanding of the autographs, not having the autographs, is to read and compare all of the Bible's versions(manuscripts/translations) available.
How would this give us a 'more accurate understanding' of the autographs?
Which criteria would you use?
