Hi Fosdick,
You were requested to avoid gay topics because you're a gay-baiter/instigator. We took a vote a few weeks ago in the admin forum that came out 3-0 for permanent suspension for you, and I held off because it wasn't 4-0. Because you are again attempting to raise gay issues I'm suspending you indefinitely.

Thank you for your contributions here, and may you fare well in all your future endeavors

Whoo hoo,I didnt know I was off suspension. "Gaybaiter",?, for some reason that just doesnt sound right. Sounds like this boy has a problem with queermo sexuals, yeah dont we all at some point especially that 'Peter Pan' Rrhain, Im just kidding Rrhain, just calm down, Im not serious. People of that nature are distrubed but we are still suppose to love them as ourselves, without loving thier lifestlye and manners of life.

Anywho I was wondering if you could take a vote at the admin office and try for a 4 in the affirmative, 0 in the negative, to permanently suspend me, to put us out of our misery.

When it got to the point where people were actually questioning that eixstence was actually real or that Jesus was an actual person, I said to myself, whaaaaaaaaat? What kind of people are you dealing with here Bertot, they must be complete morons.

Hey, I did make it to the 1000 post club though, I will expect my goldwatch and a letter of congradulations in the mail.

I will call you a coward and a spinless dork if you only do "indefinate".

As a gift to me, I would like each one that would like to, to give a summation on me and my debating skills. Please, although I am probably superior to each and everyone of yourselves, in every way, please speak freely, without fear of offending or insulting. Add comedy as you see fit. Trust me I cant be offended

While the test, as Altemeyer clearly states, is not the central tenet of his work, it is clear just as I warned, this stuff is pure poison to fundies.

It occasionally reduces them to pure gibberish.

{ABE}and upon reflection concerning his post, Bertot probably didn't even read Altemeyer at all, just the very existence of the thread alone seems to have made him somewhat insensible.

Powerful stuff indeed.

Junior I only thought I knew what gibberish was, until I got to this place. As far as that test is concerned, sorry, I never had a desire to play games or any sort, not even cards, there usually a waste of time, but I did take the time to read a couple of questions to see if i was correct, and I was.

31 here.

Rrhain

Thank you for your submission to Science. Your paper was reviewed by a jury of seventh graders so that they could look for balance and to allow them to make up their own minds. We are sorry to say that they found your paper "bogus," specifically describing the section on the laboratory work "boring." We regret that we will be unable to publish your work at this time.

Bob Altemeyer
I am so thankful that Altemeyer's work has been reposted. I have subsequently bought two of his other books and downloaded the studies he has done. The man has done some of the most important work in modern sociology. This a response that is typical (from our local paper):

publiusweb writes:

I took your bait. Your Dr. Bob sounds like a typical liberal reactionary. His test is stupid and biased and an insult to conservatives.

What I find amazing about Altemeyer's work is that is rare to find (imo) psychological studies using hard statistics. When you examine his stats there lies the argument. His test, the whole of his research could be bullshit, but then you have to explain the correlations. Why do those who score high on the RWA scale also have these traits? Like the logic test I mentioned earlier on another thread, these should not be correlated with the RWA score but they are. Fascinating research!

What I'd like to know from subbie is:

What was the question you didn't have a pure reaction to? In order to get a 21, you'd have to answer +4 or -4 to all the questions but one which was answered either +3 or -3, depending.

Which one was it?

Edited by Rrhain, : Realizing that I didn't actually indicate who I was talking to.

If you want to be indefinitely suspended, just ask me and I will happily comply. Alternatively you can just not post.

Meanwhile, please try and stick somewhere in the region of the topic, thanks.

Re: 65
And, for Kuresu (Message 22), he also talks about the moderating effect of education, with the children of 100 and up parents scoring 90s.

So you are moderate.

Moderate? I'm not so sure. He qualifies a low-RWA as one who scores in the bottom 25%, I believe (in the book, for simplicity's sake, it's just those who actually scored low). Granted, it's a self-administered test, but a score of 40, by my count, is the upper bound of the lowest 12.5% of the scale (not that 12.5% of people will score in this category). Which is where I fall. I dare say I qualify as a low-RWA, especially when the average for his intro psych students is approximately 75, and for americans is around 90.

Hi Bertot, welcome back!

Bertot writes:

Suspensions are automatically administered by the forum software. When you're suspended for a week it is for exactly one week, to the second. If you hover over the suspension icon next to your name, it will tell you precisely how much time is left, to the nearest minute.

You might want to read my last post to you: Message 47, where it says you're on the verge of permanent suspension. Perhaps more time away would be a good idea, so let me know if you think it would help you avoid permanent suspension if I suspended you now for another 2 weeks.

Whatever you decide, please keep in mind that your next significant Forum Guidelines violation will be your last.

:)

Great minds.....

I agree that some of the questions were 'er, duh!'. Did you think the questions were aimed at Americans? There was some mention of founding fathers and to me, it highlights the reverence they are held in.

This being the case, it would be more easy for non Americans to 'go against the intent' of them.

This questionnaire could be more accurately described as a conservative American scale.

nuclear holocaust?
Where it gets fun is where he puts groups of students through an exercise with world governments and politics. He put all high scores in the same game, and they rapidly ended up in nuclear world wars that destroyed the earth, even after a "reset" to try again.

Meanwhile the groups of low scores together they resolved issues and formed world governments.

And then we look at the middle east crisis ... anyone want to guess on the scores for the participants there?

For some strange reason I am much happier with Obama on the red button than Bushie.

It's not necessarily hihg-RWAs who will lead us to this disaster. Much later in the book he controls for double-highs: people who score high on the RWA-scale and the social dominance scale. The group with no double-highs let 1.9 billion people die but didn't start a single war. The high-RWAs just couldn't bring themselves to lead, never mind cooperate.

When the double-highs were added to the mix, no nuclear holocaust occurred, but it was likely about to happen (if the simulation had lasted but another five minutes). Also, the elites actually cooperated, trying to maximize their positions. In cases where double-highs were not the chosen elite, they undermined authority and replaced it with theirs (except for one).

Moral of the story? Double-highs with high-RWA followers are greatly disastrous, solely high-RWAs are disastrous, and low-RWAs are much better at running the world.

Fun shit, this.

Nothing could be further from the truth: take a look at 'Behaviour Research and Therapy' more multiple regressions than you can factor.

Re: Bob Altemeyer
If there was anything I got out of Psychology 101 way back in the early 70's, it's that psychology is a very, very mathematical science. It sure wasn't engineering that taught me how to do correlation studies!

Of course, psychology has to live with its now largely discredited historical superstars like Freud and Jung, and so there's the constant suspicion that the hard mathematics hides a soft foundation.

I couldn't completely agree 100% with statement 13, because some animal rights activists are dangerous morons.
