Hi Rox!
Glad you opened this topic, I was thinking about doing this myself.
Though I've been doing this a while, I haven't paid too much attention to kids joining, how many and when. Even so, I have a vague recollection that this happens every year around this time, that toward the end of every summer kids get bored and start casting about for new things to do. This is especially true of high school seniors, as the approaching college term draws more and more friends away to summer orientation programs.
That being said, the current crop seems awfully uniform in their degree of familiarity with science *and* religion, and in their stridency.

I did have a man actually tweak my nose once when I was attempting to get him to use the coffee grinder correctly.
What did he say when he regained consciousness? And what was his response to the lecture on proper light switch usage?
The worst people for me to deal with in my job are men, 40-60.
Guilty! You're so cute when your dander's up!
You were replying, in part, to this from Crashfrog:

Especially to anyone working a service job. (I work night desk at a hotel and the worst, rudest customers are always over 50.)
In our defense, older people don't travel well. We're just not as portable as we used to be. And we have an early bedtime - we get grumpy when we get tired. Travel combined with a late hour in an older person is a lethal mixture. Crashfrog's job brings him in contact with older people at their worst.
My complaint about younger people (teenager or thereabouts) in service jobs is that they're idiots. Does this need explaining?

[Edit was nothing major, just added another completely unprovoked tweak at Schraf. ]

My only irritation with the "younger set" comes from dealing with a certain subspecies of that ilk. Percy, I'm sure you know the type: the salesclerk in the computer store or wherever who treats a certain age group (like, anyone over 30) as being already senile and ready for assisted living.
Hmmm. I know what you mean, but I had something different in mind. My primary evidence of idiocy for the under 20 set is any grocery bag they pack.
As for salesclerks in computer stores, if you mean at checkout counters, then I don't have any problem with them. My biggest problem is finding a sales representative to answer questions. Once I find one, my second biggest problem is how few questions it takes before we get to "I don't know," or worse, nonsense answers because they don't want to admit they don't know.
