Well, I'm just trying to get to the root cause of Phat's anti-sex agenda. And I'm not the only one who has noticed that Taz shows an energetic obsession with the subject of closet gayness for a person who says he isn't gay. Phat's posts remind me of the church's attempt to control people's sex lives in the old days. There were books telling people which sexual position was ok with god and which is sinful. For instance, if a woman was on top, they were both going to hell. There were also books about how to raise children. For instance, I can't remember off the top of my head, but there was one example I read during my college years that told women to avoid physical contact with their babies and infants. Women were also encouraged to tie their babies up really tight. All of these things to prevent the children from becoming spoiled and also bring them closer to god. My point is all of these books and all of these teachings were conjured up by priests, cardinals, and other men in power, you know, people who didn't know jack about the things they were talking about. Phat is trying to preach to people all these things about sex, love, monogamy, gaydom, etc., all of which he supposedly has not much experience in. But he is convinced that he is right about all of these though, that sex is sinful because it brings you away from god, that there is no such thing as casual sex and all sexual encounters have psychological affects on people for life, etc. I'm just wondering why he has such an obsession with other people's personal lives so much. But you're right, I've been letting myself carried away too much by this. From now on, Phat is neither gay nor straight. He's a mutant (reference to a mutant character in X-Men). Disclaimer: Occasionally, owing to the deficiency of the English language, I have used he/him/his meaning he or she/him or her/his or her in order to avoid awkwardness of style. He, him, and his are not intended as exclusively masculine pronouns. They may refer to either sex or to both sexes![/size]

I don't know why I even feel a need to defend myself in an anonymous posting board, but for the record, I am probably one of the most liberal of the faith based volunteers that the State has. You couldn't even get in there with your views unless you had a Sociology degree and were a victims advocate. You say that i indoctrinate the kids with fundamentalist flawed thinking, but I am quite sure that I do not. I know the difference, trust me. (which obviously, you do not) If you think I indoctrinate, wait till you had a listen to the Pentecostals that go n there and speak in tongues! They are laughed at even by the kids!

Ok I am going to chime in here as an actual bisexual.
I personally find it extreamly offensive when people start claiming that bisexuality is non-exsistant. We bisexuals find ourselves in a sort of no mans land between the gay and straight communities. Some gay orginazations include bisexuals, but on the most part both sides paint bisexuals as confused fence sitters. This has been coming up a lot recently as I had a gay friend who insisted that I needed to just "Make up my mind and pick a side" I was offended to no end both for the fact that this was a friend of mine who I thought understood what it was like to have his sexuality questioned and also someone who would have cared enough to try to understand an alternitive lifestyle (getting off topic). His argument was that he was "bisexual" in high school but grew out of it. This is something that I have run into a lot and it is simply a misrepresentation. There is a difference between bisexuality and bicuriousity. Many people are bicurious in their adolecence when they are discovering their sexuality. But when people claim to be bisexual during this time then discover they are not later in life they claim they have "grown out of it". This undermines those of us who are genuanly bisexual and let me tell you that I am not going to "grow out of it" and I know many others who feel very much the same way. There is something called the Kinsey scale that puts forth pretty clearly that sexuality is not so black and white, it varies from person to person making bisexuality an absolutly legitimate sexuality.

So Taz? Have your views changed any in the past year or two? I still maintain that there is no such thing as casual sex. Extreme intimacy leads to mental patterning. I'm a little confused as to what exactly you mean. Are you saying that casual sex is impossible because it leads to "mental patterning" or that people are much more prone to it when they do have casual sex?

My view has pretty much stayed the same. It's your understanding of my view that is in question. So, let me repeat what I think. So Taz? Have your views changed any in the past year or two? I still maintain that there is no such thing as casual sex. Extreme intimacy leads to mental patterning. Whether sex results in extreme intimacy and mental patterning depends entirely on the person. I am one of those that when I am with someone there is nothing more important to me than that person. And here is a clue. When my wife first found me, I was still a virgin. HOWEVER, I also know people who would go from one person to another night to night. They can't seem to stop. They don't believe in double dipping. Once they have slept with someone, they don't want to see them ever again. I must admit that I don't understand much of their mentality regarding sex. But I do see them as living proof of the existence of casual sex. These same people keep telling me that I'm missing out on something that is really great. And I keep telling them they're missing out on the wonderful world of monogamy. I guess the conclusion in this is whatever floats your boat. I still maintain, however, that you're the mutant from x-men comics Phat.

But I do see them as living proof of the existence of casual sex. Sadly, I currently fit this bill. But I've been on both sides of the coin and there is no real "mentality", in my opinion, with either side. When I'm not with someone I enjoy casual sex. Also, my profession has me traveling a lot so monogamous relationships are not always easy to do. I'm living proof of the ability to have casual sex and not have any attatchments beyond just the physical.
These same people keep telling me that I'm missing out on something that is really great. And I keep telling them they're missing out on the wonderful world of monogamy. One of my comic friends, Ted Alexandro, has a great bit: "Being single is a balance between euphoria and loneliness. Loneliness right before you go to bed, and euphoria the rest of the time." Unlike most fundies I know, I actually kept true to my vow of abstinence before marriage. I just find it interesting that most fundies I know who took that ridiculous vow never kept it. One girl came to mind who was and still is a major anti gay marriage evangelical type. She was always breaching to people about sin and all that nonsense. One day I got the news from her that she was getting married. Immediately, I asked her "are you pregnant?" and she gave me a simple "yes".

There is a difference between bisexuality and bicuriousity. I think you hit the nail on the head. It seems that only true bisexuals can realize this. Most, from what I have seen, are bisexual leaning toward either homo or hetero. Those of us who are truly bi don't have that leaning. As for bicurious people some retain this in adulthood, these people are predominately homo or hetero with the occasional craving for the opposite. As for arrousal, I feel that is a poor way to determine sexuality. A person can be arroused by pictures of one sex but not have any sexual attraction to that sex or to both. I still maintain that there is no such thing as casual sex. Extreme intimacy leads to mental patterning. And, of course, you'd know far better about that than all the people having casual sex. What is with you people and reality denial?

Unlike most fundies I know, I actually kept true to my vow of abstinence before marriage. I'm guessing this was a personal vow, rather than religious?

It started out as religious. I guess after I stopped being so delusional I was already too used to staying a virgin. I'm guessing this was a personal vow, rather than religious? Again, whatever floats your boat is fine with me.

I am straight. I have no interest in men whatsoever.
However, I do listen to the Savage Love podcast by sex advice columnist Dan Savage. Dan is gay. He gets calls from all sexualities, and even just a few listens will clue you in that there is a WIDE range of sexuality out there. It's not gay/straight. It's not gay/bi/straight. It's a vast scope. There's straight. There's straight identified who go after one guy one time. There's straight identified who are occasionally interested in d*#k so they hire transexuals - 99% of their clientelle are straight guys. Gay guys aren't interested in a woman with a penis. There's straight identified who occasionally want to be on the receiving end. There's bi identified who've only ever dated women. There's bi identified who will only hook up with guys during three ways. There's bi identified who split their time 50/50 There's gay identified who have a wife and kids. There's gay identified who are occasionally interested in very manly women. On and on and on... Human sexuality is at best a gray scale.
