It looks nice. Can you change the column width? Topic's title should be wider, forum location should be thinner.
I like the new "mail" button does it work?

Am I the only one that doesn't like the look of the new board?

You're right, I hadn't noticed that during development. I'll make the change soon.
I like the new "mail" button does it work?
The "Email this page to a friend" link? It should work, but the message it sends needs a little improvement. It's a simple fix, may as well do this today.
Thanks for the feedback!

There's an old saying: If it works, leave it alone. Considering the fact that I'm an old man, my eyes don't like changes that much. I never complained how the board looked before this recent update hint hint.

Not at all.
From a usability perspective this change is a big step backwards.
On the "All topics" page:
1) I can no longer see relative activity
2) I can no longer jump directly to one of the last pages of a topic
3) Icons are way to small and hard to see
4) Column widths are not sized appropriately - 'Topic' needs to be increased in importance and all other columns should be reduced.
My regular usage of this board has just increased in click and load count massively. Here is my typical visit to the site:
1) Go to the 'All topics' page
2) Quickly scan for topics that have had a lot of responses in the past day or two
3) Look at the page numbers for each of those topics to quickly see what the last page I viewed was.
4) Go to the last page I read comments on to refresh my memory as to the current discussion context and read through all comments to the end of the thread.
5) Repeat until I've gone through all topics of interest
With this new version, I can't do any of this other then go to the all topics page. I have no idea which topics have a lot of responses. I have no idea what page to go to within a topic to get to my last location. I actually have to click into a topic to start flipping pages.
I always hate it when people say what I'm about to say.
I can't see myself visiting the board as often unless these issues are addressed. It just takes too long for me to get to the 'meat' of what I'm looking for now. I don't have that kind of time to waste.

Yes, the loss of the jump-to page number feature in the All Topics screen is a real kicker.

I do like the way you can see if the OP has responded to the replies but it would be good if the number of pages was displayed before you enter the thread.
The little icon on the left is a bit teeny-tiny, too.
I like the way one can view a posters messages a great deal, nice.

Thanks for the feedback!
Many beloved features will be making a comeback. The ones that are missing are because they were originally installed as hacks, and as I move closer to productization I need them properly integrated into the rest of the code, or because I didn't have time to integrate them with other new features.
I was forced to release the software now because the number of messages was growing past a half-million, and I needed to get them into the new database before the number grew even more unwieldy. In other words, I released because I had to, not because I was finished.
About the activity meter and page links, they will be staging a comeback, can't give you a date, though.
But you shouldn't need to rely on the page links as much as before. As people post to threads you'll begin to notice little blue arrows in the left-hand column beneath the folders. Click on these and they will take you to the last unread message in a thread. The board now remembers the last time you were in a thread and provides this link to take you to the first message posted after that time.

Ooo.. shiny. Actually on a thread-by-thread basis or just last time you logged into the site?

Icons
I have to agree. In the All Topics list, the icons to the left are tough to read and underatand. I liked the blule balls, ti was eay for me to tell if I had read a thread or not. Also, the closed topics one is difficult to notice at first. I liked the word "Closed" across the thread title so it was unambiguous.

Thread-by-thread. It's not super-intelligent, though it will be made more so. For instance, right now if you read just page 1 of a long thread it'll mark the entire thread as read. A planned enhancement will remedy this so that if you only read page 1, when you return to the thread list then the "next unread message" link will take you to the top of page 2. Naturally there's no way to tell how many of the messages on a page you actually read.
I may have performed insufficient testing since I think I observe a minor bug, not positive about that, but I'll check into it later today.

Request for Icon Help
I'm finding the new icons too small, also. Image creation and editing is not my strong suit. A volunteer to work on icons for the site would be appreciated.

I've noticed a bug; it's listing the most recent post on some of the topics incorrectly - as in posts from different topics. I currently get the Icons post above listed as the latest post in the Modularity thread.
