When I see the names of the people on line (xx members xx visitors) I always see my name in darker blue; but I also always see PaulK in darker blue, too.

This in no way has a negative effect but does anyone know what this means?

When I was not logged in I saw the 16/18 name in dark blue (roxrkool) and still see that when I am there in dark blue too.

I see my own name and Rahvin's in dark blue.

I have noticed it before and wondered what it means but never thought to ask.

A ghost in the machine, perhaps?

It might explain the otherwise inexplicable phenomenon of Rahvin frequently telepathically knowing what I want to say and then saying it better than me

It just means you've clicked that link (ie., you've been to PaulK's and your own message lists) - click on someone else's and you'll see it become dark blue too.
