Guilty Pleasures
Music would be Dido and Bon Jovi.
Oh my god! If I were your father I would disown you.
But I have to agree with Stile, this site is the guiltiest of pleasures that no one close to me knows about.
Yep me too!
Although I get asked at work what that eternal dark blue backgrounded website that I keep minimising whenever anyone appoaches me is..... And my missus refers to my time here as "conversing with the sect".
Basically nobody knows that I am here.........(Phew!)

Re: Guilty Pleasures
And it sucks cuz it creeps up on me. I'll be at a bar, not being totally gay, until a Jovi song starts, then I turn into an insane Jersey girl and sing every fuck'n word. Its sad.
If you come to London and start kareokeing "cock rock" or MOTRD at the first opportunity you are on your own.
Save yourself the explanation and tell them its porn.
I manage the internet access where I work......
So that will be all too believable.....

Re: Guilty Pleasures
Ok Ok, fair enough. I'll contain my love for pussy rock; wouldn't want to out do any Brit singing Boy George tunes.
Hey I know BG! (Well..I know one of BG's dancers who knows BG who wouldn't know me from a puddle). But I have been in the same room as BG.

True. True. Better that than the Evc Truth though.

You'd disown your kid over Bon Jovi, but you excitedly admit having a personal connection to Boy George?
Actually I was never a fan of Boy George. Nor did he particularly excite me. It was just this particular dancer
It was a looong time ago.
I also like Def Leppard, REO Speedwagon.....
........I particularly like power ballads
If you were my kid you could at this point consider yourself disowned.
Oh, and I can moonwalk.
How incredibly naff whilst at the same time being unbelievably cool. You have both my respect and derision in equal measure.

YEAH BOY! Public Enemy Number One Is In the House
1) Coldplay - I enjoy countless songs of theirs.
I was never really a fan but I saw them at Glastonbury Festival in 2005 and was actually pretty impressed.
I was so concerned by this undeniable indication of encroaching middle age that I immediately went to the stone circle and did what I needed to do to escape the world for a few hours.
In terms of musical embarressing guilty pleasures..... Well when I was 14 or 15 (whilst most were enthralled by the likes of Boy George and the "New Romantics") my first real interest in music was stirred by the likes of Public Enemy, NWA and Boogie Down Productions. I was an undeniable product of my environment. I wanted to be black and angry. This was somewhat ridiculous as:
A) I am very obviously not black
B) My parents were well educated hippy dropout under-achievers who, whilst poor, were the very opposite of angry
Anyway to cut a long story short I still get together with some of my fellow old school "wiggas" and pump out the PE from time to time.
"YEAH BOY"

Re: YEAH BOY! Public Enemy Number One Is In the House
Once I hit high school I discovered metal, then thrash metal - that was the end of my "gangsta" era.
I went to college and regressed to Hendrix, the Stones, Velvet Underground and a whole host of other retro stuff as well as REM, Chilli Peppers and the other simlar not-quite-pop stuff of that era. Then grunge in the form of Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden were obligatory for anyone my age (at least anyone white who had stopped pretending to be black). Was still listenin to the Ices T and Cube on the gangsta front though. Plus some rap/rock stuff of the Rage Against The Machine type.
Then during my young teacher years the whole Britpop thing kicked off. Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Manic Street Preachers, Charlatans, Radiohead etc. etc. etc. etc. I have always been a keen festival goer and have seen pretty much all of these bands live at their peak. Musically I have never really got over that particular era in truth. I probably never will now.
White Stripes, Radiohead and Kasabian are probably my current favourite bands. Make of that what you will.

Re: My name is not Ice-T!
Did you go to Reading 1999? With RHCP, Blur and Ice Mother Fucking T, Bitch!? It was awesome.
I was indeed. In fact that year I had a backstage pass for one of the days as some mates were playing on the smallest stage at the crack of dawn (well mid-day or so but you know what I mean).
I was there. And it was indeed awesome.

Re: Guilty Pleasures
It's a good thing you're a good debater, or I'd have absolutely no respect for you at all.
Thanks and Ouch!! In equal measure.
But having said that having my musical taste condemned by a self confessed fan of power ballads is something I will take as a compliment.
