Should have named this the kiss-ass thread, or the brown nose thread.

No complaints, I hope you know. I thought your observation was funny.
But now that you mention that, er, aspect of this thread... think we should praise all the Admins while we're here?

I always question authority. And now that I am in leadership positions in life, I understand what admins, and leaders go through.
I guess a high five is in order.

Forum Oscars - The Rebirth?
I started this thread way back when I first joined EvC in order to learn whose posts to look out for.
The EvC community has changed a lot since then. After a few beers tonight I thought it would be worth reviving to see what the current contingent think.
The categories seem less relevant now than when I first wrote this but for consistency they are as oriinally listed (see below). Feel free to broaden, expand, redefine or take with a pinch of salt.
The rest of this post is as per the original nearly two years and over 1000 posts (on my part) ago.
A) Hardcore creationist
B) Pragmatic believer
C) Pragmatic disbeliever
D) Rampant atheist
Just a bit of fun really so as I know whose posts to look out for and so that people can potentially be complimetory to others who they have spent much time and effort disagreeing with.....
The categories are as flexible as people want them to be so feel free to come up with new ones but lets avoid any wooden spoon type categories in the name of positivity
Acceptance speeches optional
Take it easy

Re: Forum Oscars - The Rebirth?
To answer my own questions -
A) Hardcore creationist: NJ still rules the roost in this category. Seems to have mellowed somewhat in his views but still more considered than most in this area. The social side of the debate is more contentious but.....
B) Pragmatic believer: I have to give Iano a mention here as a worthy adversary with whom I seem to share almost nothing in common other than a love of pubs.
C) Pragmatic disbeliever: RAZD for his exemplary pure evidence based dissection of anything irrational or stupid.
D) Rampant atheist: Rahvin may disagree with this category description but his cutting, insightful, eloquent and utterly damning of the opposition posts are sometimes a joy to behold. As I have said before he causes me to think "I wish I could do that".
Anyone else any views?
I really am beered up now......Hic

Re: Gunning for Glory
The posts I saw here by Ringo had a lot to do with my returning to EvC after my first visit.
Ringo was my favorite person ever here at EvC. Too bad he's gone /cry although you can find him at the Dreamcatchter forum....

Hey Straggler,
Feel free to broaden, expand, redefine or take with a pinch of salt.
(B) Pragmatic believer: riVeRraT, truthlover, Phat
(C) Pragmatic disbeliever: Rrhain, Modulus
(D) Rampant atheist: CK/Charles Knight
(E) Open-minded skeptic: tie between Holmes and Ben
(F) A category on his own: Joe Meert
(G) The third side of the argument: Archer
(H) Horse rider (and dead horse flogger): Schraff
(I) Most missed: RobinRohan
And a host of good posters hard to categorize
Enjoy.

Forum Oscars - The Rebirth?
Yes it is Friday. Yes I am beered up again. Yes it is nearly the end of 2009. So I would like to open this years "Forum Oscars". The original categories were:
A) Hardcore creationist
B) Pragmatic believer
C) Pragmatic disbeliever
D) Rampant atheist
But this was broadened to the following by RAZD:
(B) Pragmatic believer:
(C) Pragmatic disbeliever:
(D) Rampant atheist:
(E) Open-minded skeptic:
(F) A category on his own:
(G) The third side of the argument:
(H) Horse rider (and dead horse flogger):
(I) Most missed:

In other words "do what you will". Ignore as pointless rubbish or highlight the people you think have contributed greatly in whatever "category" you choose to define. The choice is yours. I will reveal my own deeply subjective opinions if this gets any sort of response at all.

Re-reading this thread I can only say that you have yet again taken this category in the past year for all of the same reasons previously specified.
