Re: Onifre?
You'll need to let me know if you are ever at the Edinburgh Festival, I live about 30 mins away and I'm sure we could do a bit of damage to a bottle of whisky or 2.
Will do, and a bottle or 2 is about right. I'd love to get into that festival. I actually had a chance to meet Danny Bhoy earlier this year in NYC on a radio show - I think he's the biggest name in comedy out of Scotland, right? He was telling me how that festival made his carrer. Nice guy, very funny.

Re: Onifre?
Danny is very funny, although he does alienate some of his potential audiences with the spelling of his surname.
There's a few good Scottish comedians at the mo, but I find Craig Hill hilarious.
I love the festival, we go to quite a few shows every year. I love the intimacy of some of the venues, you can go to a show of a fairly well-known comedian and there's only room for about 30 or 40 people. That makes it harder to hide though! I always get picked on at these shows but if I've had a good drink before I go in my partner Lorna always warns me not to give any back chat!
I was at Paul Tomkinson last year and sat at the front, we had wee bit of banter, Lorna was mortified!

I know how you feel. I was involved in a shooting some months ago that caused the life of a buddy of mine in the department and left me covered in his blood. When the vultures showed up (aka the press), I was dodging like hell trying not to appear in any news outlet. I still moan for the loss of one of my colleagues, but I am happy as hell that the only mention of me in the press was "a friend" when they wrote about the fallen officer. I tried to yank every chain I could to keep my name from being released.
Anyway, for some reason, I've always thought your avatar was you. Who's that if it's not you?

I'm American, explain.
There's a few good Scottish comedians at the mo, but I find Craig Hill hilarious.
I youtube him, not many videos. But what I saw was funny. He's gay right?
I also saw a dude named Stewart Lee (UK), which I loved! Never heard of him (although I think Straggler mentioned him once). He reminded me of an American comedian, Todd Barry. Same cadence, pauses and delivery as, Stewart Lee.
I love the festival, we go to quite a few shows every year. I love the intimacy of some of the venues, you can go to a show of a fairly well-known comedian and there's only room for about 30 or 40 people. That makes it harder to hide though! That sounds really cool. There's a festival in NY called the NYC Underground Comedy festival which is similar to that. Small venues, intimate settings and lots of fun because the crowds, like you said, can't hide.

Sorry to hear about your friend and colleage. I hope his/her family are ok.

The greatest comedian ever (by my standards), Bill Hicks. His shit is still relevant today and he died in 96. Which then, Denis Leary stole his enitre act and personality. There's actually an industry joke about it. Leary's first album was called "No Cure for Cancer." Hicks died of cancer. The joke is, "Why is Leary so famous? Cuz there's no cure for cancer."
Some of his stuff:

Oh Bhoy!
It's to do with what's known as 'Scotland's Secret Shame', IOW bigotry.
We still have a problem with the old Catholic - Protestant divide in Scotland. This hatred manifests itself daily mainly through the entities of Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic football supporters.
Traditionally, Rangers supporters were more or less all protestants and Celtic supporters mostly catholics. It's difficult to comprehend unless you live here or in Ireland.
'Bhoy' or 'Bhoys' is a name that Celtic are known by, The Celtic Bhoys, which I think was originally a spelling mistake! I could be wrong though.
But I know people who wont watch Danny because they think his surname means ne is a Celtic supporter, and I have no idea if he is nor not.
The whole thing is n embarrassment to Scotland, the Scotland's Secret Shame reference was taken from a speech by our then first minister Jack McConnell.

That's what you get for using your real name, bro. But you're pretty good, and I don't see what there's to hide. Now at least I have the right face and voice to associate with your posts.
Did you write the jokes for the short film?

Heisenberq's picture

I tried printing a picture of Heisenberq once to hang on my wall. I was never certain if it was him in the photograph though.

I honestly don't know if Schrodinger is alive or dead, if that helps.
I keep wanting to go look him up, since I thought of that. But based on the date, I suspect that would be murder.
