Ha! I know what really caused the earthquake there! It's all these Baptists and Church of Christ groups from shitty little places like Snyder, Texas sending "mission teams" to convert all them Heathens down there, despite the heathens being already Christian. And that pissed God off!
So it's Pat Fuckhead Robertson's fault that all those little kids died - and I'll bet that even some unborn children were lost, too! It would be nice if there were a Hell, other than the town in Michigan..... "The wretched world lies now under the tyranny of foolishness; things are believed by Christians of such absurdity as no one ever could aforetime induce the heathen to believe." - Agobard of Lyons, ca. 830 AD |

Rev. Robertson said that he had heard the report of the earthquake on the radio and had misinterpreted its location: "For the life of me, I thought God was punishing Hades, which does in fact have a pact with the Devil."
WTF..? Hades was an ancient Greek mythological place/deity. It didn't have a 'pact with the devil'! Heck, ancient Greeks didn't even have a concept of 'the devil'. So he thought that God was punishing a mythological place because of an alleged association with an entity that doesn't exist in that mythology. What a pathetic moron! Actually, I think they made all that stuff up.
I mean seriously, is there anyone on this planet that moronic? Even if it is fuckhead Pat? I hunt for the truth I am the one Orgasmatron, the outstretched grasping handMy image is of agony, my servants rape the land Obsequious and arrogant, clandestine and vain Two thousand years of misery, of torture in my name Hypocrisy made paramount, paranoia the law My name is called religion, sadistic, sacred whore. -Lyrics by Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead

Bravo Dr A.
Since no credit is given for the clever poetry, I assume it's an original work from yourself, in which case I applaud you. I particularly found this passage clever:
Dr Adequate writes:
For petty sins like genocideand torture, he lets those abide and wisely stays his hand; but saves his deadliest assaults for those who have tectonic faults --- that's one thing he can't stand.

hooah writes: It really sounds like something The Onion would report. Can you really see this fundy publicly calling himself an asshole? The Onion indeed. I haven't actually been able to find evidence of this alleged retraction, but of course I didn't really expect to either. I did find this response from the Hatian ambassador very interesting, and enjoyed the host's reference to Robertson as "odious". Edited by Briterican, : No reason given.

oh, I hadn't realised this was a quote from the Onion. That would explain it then.
Still, I stand by my comment about him being a pathetic moron "We must respect the law, not let it blind us away from the basic principles of fairness, justice and freedom"

Hi Legend
Legend writes: oh, I hadn't realised this was a quote from the Onion. That would explain it then. I haven't actually seen this alleged "Hades" comment on The Onion, or anywhere but here for that matter hehe. We were just commenting about how it sounds like something the Onion would say.

Doesn't it kinda sound like he's acknowleding that a pact with the devil was made? At 1:20:
quote: I was expecting him to be all: "WTF? We didn't make no pact with the devil!" weird....

No, this is called sarcasm. He is saying that if Hati had made a pack with the devil, which it didn't, than the US benefited from this pact more than anyone else by increasing the size of the US by over 200% for 3 cents an acre. In other words, Pat Robertson is the most stupid, hypocritacal, self-righteous , pompous, bigoted evil jerk in Christian broadcasting! One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We're no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It is simply too painful to acknowledge -- even to ourselves -- that we've been so credulous. - Carl Sagan, The Fine Art of Baloney Detection "You can't convince a believer of anything; for their belief is not based on evidence, it's based on a deep seated need to believe." - Carl Sagan "It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring." - Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World

In the wake of his comments about the earthquake in Haiti, televangelist Pat Robertson has become a "public relations nightmare" and a "gynormous embarrassment to me, personally," God said today.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...n-a-public-re_b_423524.html
In a rare press conference at the Grand Hyatt in New York City, the usually reclusive Almighty said that He was taking the unusual step of airing His feelings in public because "enough is enough." "I pray that his TV show would just go away, but of course, when you're me there's no one to pray to," God said, to the laughter of the packed room of reporters. While God held out no hope that Rev. Robertson's "700 Club" would be cancelled any time soon, He did say, somewhat ruefully, "If Pat Robertson were on NBC he'd be replaced by Jay Leno by now."

According to Zenni62, blogging for the SF Gate, Rush Limbaugh had this to say about President Obama and Haiti:
This will play right into Obama’s hands. He’s humanitarian, compassionate. They’ll use this to burnish their, shall we say, credibility with the black community in the both light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country. It’s made-to-order for them. That’s why he couldn’t wait to get out there, could not wait to get out there. He also said:
We've already donated to Haiti. It's called the U.S. income tax. Pat Robertson called Limbaugh's remarks "deeply insensitive." O.M.G. How low must one get for Pat Robertson to call him deeply insensitive? Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions. Ideas must be distinct before reason can act upon them; and no man ever had a distinct idea of the trinity. It is the mere Abracadabra of the mountebanks calling themselves the priests of Jesus. -- Thomas Jefferson For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus -- and non-believers. -- Barack Obama We see monsters where science shows us windmills. -- Phat

In other words, Pat Robertson is the most stupid, hypocritacal, self-righteous , pompous, bigoted evil jerk in Christian broadcasting! I wouldn't say the MOST. He just gets the most airplay and has the largest audience. Just a run of the mill fundy to me. Who are we? Hi CS
It is an interesting point. I think he might be saying it in the sense of "even if this pact were true...", but I also think that he knows he has very limited time to talk, and his primary intent is therefore to express the connection of Haiti's independence with the Louisiana Purchase and a sense of shared benefit. As far as this purported pact, I can't find any details, but this was interesting: A Christian PhD writes:
Jean R. Gelin writes: I was born and raised in Haiti, and I am a graduate of the State University in Port-au-Prince. I am also a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ in accordance with the Bible. In all of my studies of Haitian history, however, I have yet to find a good evidence of even the idea of Satan’s assistance in the Independence War, let alone a satanic pact. Obviously, the idea that Haiti was dedicated to Satan prior to its independence is a very serious and profound statement with potentially grave consequences for its people in terms of how they are perceived by others or how the whole nation is understood outside its borders. One would agree that such a strong affirmation should be based on solid historical and scriptural ground. But, although the satanic pact idea is by far the most popular explanation for Haiti’s birth as a free nation, especially among Christian missionaries and some Haitian Church leaders, it is nothing more than a fantasist opinion that ultimately dissipates upon close examination. source: God, Satan, and the Birth of Haiti- Articles- BlackandChristian.com Sounds quite likely that missionaries have brought about this myth through their influence in the same way that they've brought about the anti-homosexual legislation now appearing in Uganda. I just wonder if any of the people who perpetuate these kinds of things (certainly not all "missionaries" do) ever feel remorse. Or, do they take the view that the end justifies the means?

What is wrong with the right? What. The. Fuck.? Ten's of thousands of people are DEAD and all these ass holes can think is politics or religion?
Here is an idea: use your POLITICAL power to help these people. Use your RELIGIOUS power to help these people. I was listening in to the BBC this morning and one of the on-site reporters interviewed a young man, maybe 30 years old. He lost his oldest daughter and wife. His youngest daughter survived with BOTH legs broken (bones exposed) and her skull was cracked wide open. Had they seen a physician yet? No. How old is the girl? 4. Chew on that for a minute right wingers. Who are we?
