The Bible's Flat Earth

The earth is not fixed in it's orbit and neither is the orbit fixed.For example the precession of the equinoxes causes the to wobble tracing a circle which currently points towards Polaris in Ursa Minor.3000 years ago it pointed toward Thuban in the constellation Draco.13000 years ago it pointed toward Vega in the constellation Lyra.3000 years ago the sun entered the constellation Ares on the vernal equinox. Now the sun enters Pisces on the vernal equinox.The orbit is changed by perturbations caused by Venus & Mars.

So then why wouldn't the flood and the Adam & Eve story be allegories?
Or why not the stories of Jonah & Job?If one wants to believe anything in the Bible, some other person can easily say it is simply an allegory or a fable or a myth, no different than the stories of the other peoples of the Mesopotamian & Canaan areas. Why would there be any more creedence to The Flood than to a Flat earth.

Yes it is about a flat earth. The problem is that most of the biblical references are being put in the following:People are trying to read the Bible through 21st century eyes, rather than through the eyes of the bronze age men who first told these stories. Earth is earth. To the man who told these stories the entire Earth was simply earth & water, not a planet. Whether one translates it as earth or land is irrelevant. They didn't know what the earth was.
Try reading what is there rather that what someone else says is there.

You seem to be making the common mistake of trying to understand the Bible using 21st century intelligence rather that trying to understand it through the eyes of the story tellers/writers.
There is no way that these ancient people knew that the earth was a planet. Earth, to them, was a flat fixed point on which all life existed as opposed to "The Heavens"which was everything above them. had no knowledge that the earth was a planet, therefore the meaning of erets could not be the planet, but what they considered the whole earth was.Edited by bluescat48, : sp
