Re: Question
Over in the madness of facebook, the group that believes in Evolution has a healthy 250,000 plus to 55,000-ish lead on the group that does not, but the group that supports same-sex marriage all across the USA is already working on their 2nd million and now have upped their goal to 10 million.

Re: Question
Those of us who were smart hid behind the bed like little girls and survived.
And some of us still live with this guilt on a daily basis...
I tells ya, the stench of death stuck with the forum for months.
Funny as it sounds, that was exactly the atmosphere. It was a bizarre time...

Don't know if you've read any of my posts where I have alluded to this, but Crash, you are almost solely repsonsible for my deconversion the other year. So if we both end up in the Christian hell, I'm gonna come looking for you...
Good to hear from you. Now get sailing!

You got to the forum after me
It would appear that way.

Re: Question
I didn't know there was a history in the forum
If these cyberwalls could talk...
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness; it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity; it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness; it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair; we had everything before us, we had nothing before us; we were all going directly to Heaven, we were all going the other way." -- Charles Dickens
We went in to the fray with the expectation to teach, and from it we were taught. Some say we learned more about ourselves than others did of us. A simple yet elegant truism.
Good or bad, we shared pieces of ourselves and gained so much more in return.

That's nice of you to say, cavediver. But I only showed you the door, you're the one who walked through it. Take a little credit for your own good sense.

Re: Question
General Discussion Of Moderation Procedures 11.0, which finally ends several moderation threads later in Message 134. The actual purge thread is Changes at EvC Forum.
Hi crash! Kinda busy at the moment but it's great to see that you're doing well.

Re: Question
Granny Magda writes:
There was more to it than that though; some explanation here.
The good news is that despite the loss of some valued members (a couple recently returned), the changes have been for the better. The moderation is more streamlined and the ban on extended discussion of moderation procedures has been an improvement too.
Thanks Granny, for saying it first. Now that a member of the esteemed establishment has said it, I'll say that I agree. The site became so overwhelmed by a lopsided hard core of creationist counterparts that nubie creationists wanted no part of it and evolutionists wanted no part of the stagnation which resulted in the forums.
Steadily since, new fresh constituency has come in to make the site livelier, more interesting and somewhat more balanced. The bickering and meanspirited infighting has greatly diminished, effecting less tension.
In addition, Admin has implemented some nice techy improvements which make the site more user friendly.
ABE: Hi Crashy. Nice to hear from you, bud. Go with God, (Jehovah that is) and have a merry time meritiming.

unintended influence
When I was a pseudo-creationist it was your posts that really turned the tide. Grats on kicking a bad habit though if that is what EvC had become. Everything in moderation.

The whole blumed site has gone awry but you two and me. Frankly, I'm becoming seriously doubtful about you two.

Re: Question
I gotta be honest, Discussion Of Moderation Procedures sounds very unnecessary. And completely worthless to what this forum is for. If I was Percy I would have shut it down too.
Bunch of whining bitches if you ask me. I would hate to have been a moderator and had to constantly defend my moderation to others. Talk about taking yourself and your opinions too serious.
I'm glad that thread is gone.
And yeah Bluejay, they should be happy they got the likes of you and me.
