You might want to peruse the Good Calories, Bad Calories, by Gary Taubes thread.

Re: But why can't the BBC correctly pronounce the "a" at the end of names?

I'm not sure which is worse, Barack Obamer or the Dali Lamer.
I wonder how they pronounce "Sidney Poitier"?
The British may be different, but my father's speech had many of the characteristics of the full blown Boston Brahmin accent. He definitely said "Dali Lamer," as well as "Rusher," "Aisher" and "Chiner," and would have said "Barack Obamer," too. We had endless fun with his accent, often trying to work words into the conversation that morphed into words with different meanings when he spoke them. But he definitely pronounced "Sidney Poitier" correctly.

Where have you guys been? There's been an Internet standard for "IP over Avian Carriers with Quality of Service" since 1999: RFC 2549 at http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2549.html
The author of the proposal was employed by Ironbridge Networks, which went bankrupt way back in 2001. The practical feasibility of IPOAC must be seriously questioned.

Re: Neil deGrasse Tyson is hilarious
The last two videos are from the Beyond Belief: Science, Religion, Reason and Survival conference of 2006. There were many prominent participants. In addition to Tyson there were Dawkins, Shermer, Weinberg, Krauss, Harris, Davies, Porco and Ann Druyan (Sagan's widow), and others, too.

Re: Onifre?
Onifre,
If this is you, you are good! I have trouble hearing in echoey situations and couldn't make out about half the material, but what I heard was good. You probably don't need amateurs telling you that, but anyway, you were relaxed, engaged, good timing. I don't know why the bit about the kids arguing didn't get more of a laugh - maybe not enough parents in the audience?
The resolution on the video wasn't that good, but you looked a bit like that guy from the King of Queens sitcom. You were better then many of those comedians I see on the Comedy Channel's comedy specials.
If it wasn't you...never mind!

One for the ages from American Idol
I don't watch American Idol, but I hear about it all the time, mostly about Simon and Paula and so forth. This isn't actually American Idol but Britains Got Talent, but anyway, I heard an indirect reference to this incredible and surprising performance by a Susan Boyle and so I looked it up. Maybe everyone has already heard about this, but it was news to me.
This doesn't really belong in humor, but it's pretty incredible and unexpected. Embedding is disabled for this video, but here's the link:
